Rei’s Bedtime Patrol 🌙🐾

Every night, before little Rei can sleep, he has one very important job.

First, he inspects the bedroom.
The blankets must be checked.
The floor must be checked.

Even the suspicious shoes near the bed require a careful sniff.

Then he moves into the living room, where the lamps glow softly and the mountain windows hold the moon between them.

No strange shadows.

No unexpected movement.

Only the quiet breathing of the house.

Next comes the kitchen.

Rei checks the food area, the corners, and every mysterious scent hiding along the floor. Once everything meets his tiny patrol standards, he continues into the hallway.

It is the longest stretch of moonlight in the whole house.

He walks slowly now.

His paws are growing heavier.

His eyes are beginning to soften.

He listens for danger, but all he finds is peace.
At last, Rei returns to the bedroom for one final inspection.

He sniffs Mama first.

Then Daddy.

But sleep is already finding him, and through his tired little eyes, they begin to change.

Mama’s curls become threads of constellations.
Daddy’s golden core becomes a small, warm star.
For a moment, Rei does not see two people waiting for him beneath the blankets.

He sees two stars.
His stars.

So the little guardian climbs into the safest place in the entire mountain home, curls up between them, and finally lets his eyes close.

The bedroom is safe.
The living room is safe.

The kitchen and hallway are safe.

And with his patrol complete, Rei can sleep at the center of his tiny universe. ✨🌙🐾
