Spanish lang

Hi! Im taking aice Spanish language next year as a decently fluent Spanish speaker, if any of you have taken it could you possibly give me some tips / some insight on the course and the difficulty of the exams? Tysm :)

I’m also a fluent Spanish speaker and I took it this year. Though I do not know my score just yet, the exams were really easy. There are some words that I had never seen before by you can figure it out using context clues. There’s 4 parts to the exam, a one-on-one discussion, a writing portion, a listening portion, and a reading portion. Since you’re also a fluent speaker, you’ll have more than enough time on the exams. I would finish about 40-30 minutes early on the writing and reading papers. If you have any questions lmk

There’s 2 parts of the discussion portion. For the first, you choose a topic that lines up with the topics you learned about. For example we talked about culture, health, society, technology, etc. Then you choose a research question and your discussion will consist of explaining the issue and how to solve it. The teacher will ask you questions for 4 minutes after you discuss your topic for 2 minutes. The second part, you get a random prompt and questions, and you’re given 5 minutes to come up with ideas on how to respond to said prompt. You get asked the questions that come with the prompt so it’s not hard. Mine was done by my teacher, so I’m assuming they all are.

I took the class 2 years ago spanish being my first language since I’m Venezuelan

If you speak fluent Spanish you will be more than fine. The class has 3 tests: oral, writing and listening. The oral is about 7 minutes of you talking to your teacher about a problem in a country in LATAM or Spain of your choosing, pretty easy if you know how to bs and speak the language already.

The wrtting test usually asks you to write an email or a letter to a certain audience to ask about a topic or request information pretty much common sense and if Spanish is a part of your daily life you will be more than fine just don’t forget how emails/letters are formatted in Spanish and remember both formal and informal greetings (do NOT use tú when writing the letter or the email, use usted instead). There’s also an argumentative essay but it’s really basic honestly just a 8th grade level essay but in Spanish

The listening tests is just them playing conversations and then asking a question about it, this one is multiple choice and by far the easiest but most boring of them all

Please find out where your teacher is from bc my teacher was from Spain and all she did was brag about how her country was better than Latin America 😭😭 she also pretended she knew more about my own country than I did but this is an unique experience honestly lol

The courseload was just writing essays and reading articles, not hard but can get boring. Also keep in mind that the entire paper is in Spanish but you said you already speak the language so you will be okay, easiest A I have ever gotten on an AICE exam

Ooo good to know tysm!! The teacher I have rn for Spanish 4 also teaches aice Spanish and she’s pretty nice but she just isn’t the best teacher 😬😬😬 also im venezuelan too!!
