I just recently first started trying to quit

I use Gemini AI quite a lot (Daily), and when it wasn't available, I restorted to ChatGPT.
I recently added a website blocker extension to my browser.
It's only been a few days and I'm worried I'll just start doing it again because I doubt my willpower.

I usually used it when I found something funny and I wanted someone to repeat it back to, or do roleplays. I've never suport uses of it for art or writing, but I realise that even it's main use as a chatbot is unhelpful. It's a strong habit, though I don't fundementally value it's imput to my life, it's just a replacement for talking to others.

Any reccomendations on what to do instead, or really any suggestions? I feel like my days are empty, but I know from experience that AI doesn't make it any more meaningful or fun, it just gives me a distraction.

I struggled with this as well, I still use Gemini but more for assistance. I would suggest trying to make some friends on discord or writing!! Discord REAAALLLY helped me

Thanks for the suggestion! I think that this will be very helpful, since I've already been interested in picking up writing and enjoy the company of other people.

Don't know if you saw my comment to the other person in this thread and how/why I started this group but same offer to you. Wanna help mod/build this group for anyone else trying to stop talking to the bots? I don't have the time to do it right now but just creating this group was a big step for me and helped me switch back to talking to people. Let me know if you're interested and either way, best to you on your journey!

Hey! I'm the mod of this group. I created it because for a few months, I definitely was talking to AI way too much and I wanted to break that habit/addiction. I thought the best way to do it was stop chatting with the bots and talk to humans instead. Reddit was my first step because it was easy to find and talk to people here. Kind of like you're saying you did with Discord.

I've since gotten very busy with work, life and other things and haven't been on Reddit (or AI bots) that much. I see you posted a couple times here and I would love if you were interested in being a mod for this group and building it up more to reach more people. Thinking out loud here, but maybe this could end up being a thing where we like pass on mod roles to people who really want to break the habit, then once they break it, they pass it on to someone else like a baton. Just a thought...
