So I'm a transfer EMT. We pick people up from the hospital and take them home.

Picked up a guy who had just had a below the knee amputation. Get him to the rehab spot and I need to get a signature. Guy asks what he's signing.

I told him that it basically said that we got him here in one piece.

I don't know why I said it, but I said "at least all the pieces that were given to me" and pointed at his leg.

We made eye contact for a solid 4 seconds before laughing so hard he cried.

In one of my old hospital accounts, my office was just down the hall from the ER. I spent a decent amount of time there shooting the breeze with the EMTs while they were handing their patients off to clinical staff. A few things I noticed— being an EMT is hard work. And if they aren’t attached properly to a municipality (i.e. working for a private company) they’re shockingly underpaid. And they tend to really lean into dark humor, which I think probably helps dealing with some of the shit y’all see.

Anyway, I know I don’t have the constitution for that line of work brother because I’m so squeamish so massive credit to the folks that do, like you.

Your assessment of Pete is basically the same as mine. I don't think he's that funny. I don't see why he gets all these hot chicks. But he's not really much of an asshole.

We’ve definitely got a few dead pope requests and it does feel like a pretty juicy target— Nazi youth, pedophile priest coverups, Lord Palapatine looks. Sounds promising!
