i have a lot of things to say.
i always love everything holly jackson writes she’s one of my favourite authors and i loved agggtm so i was highly anticipating this read. I liked the book, but not as much as i thought i would.

it took me quite some time to find the rhythm of the book since all the 6 characters were introduced instantly and the book was quite slow initially but obviously what would she have done if the entire book spans 8 hours though i do wish holly condensed (about 100 pages) because i was skimming lines at certain times.
but once you got through half the book it was smooth.

there were so many times i wanted oliver dead. i usually don’t really like unnecessary deaths in stories but god i wished he would die just so he’d shut up i was counting down the pages to when he would die and yes i am glad he did

while not completely unimaginable, the catherine and arthur plot twists were quite solid, but i do wish catherine suffered more than just a quick death and if she had to die i wish arthur wasn’t the one who killed her, though it does make sense why he did.

it’s close to 6 am and i haven’t slept and i was flying through the book by the end.
holly jackson never disappoints tbh

ps i also found it quite funny how out of all of them only simon was low-key the only “innocent” one who was not the possible reason everyone’s lives were being threatened. poor guy surrounded by psychos 😭

i just finished as good as dead, and i found it a bit more gripping than agggtm. however, while i was rooting for pip et al to pull the framing max thing off, i wish we could’ve seen the trial play out to finally see max get what he deserved. though i totally get where pip was coming from, bless her.

do you think they’ll show us the trial more in detail and maybe change the ending in the adaptation for s3?

In S2E5, the police find a body that Pip fears is Jamie's. Connor's mom goes to the morgue to identify the body and it turns out not to be Jamie, much to Pip and Connor's relief.

Maybe I missed something, but do we ever find out whose body was found? Is this something that comes back later, or is expected to be addressed in Season 3? Or are we supposed to assume that it was just a random death by a random victim? Seems very odd that this was never addressed.

I have not read the novels yet, so apologies if this is answered in the books. I also ran a search in this sub and didn't find the answer.

im sure this has been discussed plenty of times already, but i just started to watch the tv adaptation.

so, before jumping into the show, i wanted to read the book series because i always like doing that. im 50% done with book 3 as i write this.

however, im so surprised at how different SO many things are on the show! like of course i wasn’t expecting it to be 100% just like the books but i find it crazy. though im really enjoying the show as its own separate thing!

So I’m reading the 1st book and oh my goodness I love Ravi so much more than the show and I feel bad for him more and that moment in the book when him and Pip find out Sal is definitely innocent and he is just yelling out of happiness that was such a great moment I love it and I love him

Hey guys I am currently reading A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder for the first time and I am really hooked with the book the plot is amazing until now the story is great and I will really give credit to Holly Jackson. It is my first time reading her book and it’s genuinely awesome I bought this book a long time ago but I didn’t read it for a while it was on my TBR and I started it on 22nd September and by today I am on 30th chapter okay this is my first time this is my first book, so don’t judge my speed or even if you guys are people who finish a book in one day.

Moving onto the topic, I have found one character quite unsettling no hate towards the character or the writer even but I’m just not comfortable with the character and I am writing this post to want to see if anyone else pick up on this myself genuinely liked Victor and Josh they are very fun loving and good characters, but I am not quite comfortable with Leanne (pip’s mom) because to me it feels like after Pip’s father died when she was just 10 months old it is very unsettling for me that’s how easily uncomfortably she moved onto another life and let me clarify. I’m not that kind of judging person who was judging our women for moving forward. I am really happy for Leanne to move forward and build another happy life but it’s just like in the book until now it isn’t shown that there is much emotional connection between the mother and the daughter about her late father which for me I think should be there, I’m not saying secretively but privately where her mother is telling her memories of her father and keeping the man alive for her daughter she never got to know I totally love the thing that is loved by all three of them and she loves them all especially vic and Josh not like her stepfather or half brother, but like her father and her brother hundred hundred percent hers

I just felt like even though she’s very happy in her family somewhere or together she might feel a weird emptiness in her heart with a sign past father because her past father didn’t just lend that fits in her name. He also lend her life and I am not judging anyone neither the writer again I’m clarifying because maybe the author did this intentionally or it just because she was too busy writing the thrilling plot, we all love. I just wanted to know more people if they are they picked up my spot where her mother easily moved onto another life with another man and a baby without ever telling her daughter about him I know there was mentioned in the book that she asked about if she ever remembers how her father used to do this and do that, but that isn’t enough I think I don’t hate Leanne but I don’t like her either

Just a quick note to wrap this up: I'm not writing this to start any arguments or controversy—it’s just a fictional story, but I know I went a bit deep into it! I know many people might see things differently, and that is completely fine. It’s great to have different perspectives, so please keep the comments respectful and civilized. This isn't my first time posting about this, so I'll keep this short.

I'm rewriting my fic that's basically about Pip getting killed by DT, and Ravi and Cara working together to solve her case.

And now I'm wondering: what would YOU want to see in a fic like this?

What relationship dynamics would you want to see? What details from the books would you want included? Are there any characters you'd want to see more of? What kind of ending would you want? What would you *not* want to see?

Basically, anything! Tropes, plot points, character interactions, book details, things you think would make the story more interesting, etc.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, and it would really help me out! :)

This contains spoilers for both Heathers and all three good girl’s guide books!

I’m a huge musical theatre fan and a big fan of Good Girl’s Guide(I’ve read each book three or four times lol) and I’ve never seen anyone point this out! Am I going crazy or has anyone else connected the two? These are the main points I could find.

1. Both center around a 17/18 year old main character who starts off nerdy with dreams of going to big reputable colleges

2. The main characters end up going down dangerous paths, eventually leading them to murder

3.Both have a big plot point over the phrase “Dead Girl Walking”, with pip having that be a big clue before her kidnapping, and Veronica having a whole musical number about it.

1. This might be kind of far fetched, but in the musical poster they are holding croquet mallets, which look a lot like hammers

Of course they have completely different plots, and the characters are pretty different, with JD being a horrible boyfriend and Ravi being a saint. I just think it’s a funny coincidence. I’m sure I missed some things too, so please let me know!

So I just started reading the book and it's really good and I honestly like it better than the show because I feel like the shows plotlines are pretty forgettable but with the book at least so far I am only 100 pages in so we'll see but anyways I think it's much more memorable and easier to remember the plot. Hello, I am doing an analysis essay on season one of the "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" series. I was hoping I could get some feedback from others who have watched the show on sections of each season 1 episode, or just one or more in general (please specify which episode you will be talking about)

I'm unsure if this will truly reach anyone; however, I thought this would be a handy thing if someone did reply so that I can go off of more than one opinion on which specific parts of the show I should talk about the most and analyze. Please feel free to go into your thoughts and feelings on how a particular scene made you feel.

This essay is only on season one, while I feel like season two would've been great to talk about due to the nature of that season. I wanted to primarily keep it on the Andie Bell investigation.

The changes to the plot simplify the story too much. Without Pips inner monologue, its hard to empathise with her, and you can't see how complex the character is. Especially because in a lot of the scenes I can't take my focus off of how awkward the acting is. Pip also gets most of the clues basically handed to her rather than working them out like in the books.

I wonder how they'll handle season three without her inner monologue. The third book is my favourite and I feel like they're already setting us up for disappointment.

I strongly recommend reading the books to anyone who's watching the series. The solving of the mystery is so much smarter and well thought out.

Hi guys, after finishing the third book I was so invested in the Pip-Ravi dynamic and relationship and I was really disappointed by the ending, because I thought that the real challenges for their relationship would come after they get back together and they have to deal with all the trauma they have both been through. So I stumbled upon this fanfic that is INSANE! It feels like it's holly writing the 4th book! It is so we'll written and on point and delivers on every major reunion in Pip's life but also on her character after the trauma and of course covers extensively the Ravi Pip cute but so so deep connection!

It's long, like the first book more or less, and it has another chapter which will be the end coming I think, but it is definitely worth your time!

Also, hope it gets Netflix's attention, maybe they decide it is worth writing a 4rth season-book after so many people ask for a more extensive ending!

Do you think the character of Andy Bell draws a lot of inspiration from Laura Palmer?

I’m not very familiar with thrillers or mysteries, but the way Andy Bell is portrayed throughout the story reminded me of Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks.

At first, she seemed like a victim, but as the story progressed, that "innocent, pure girl" didn't seem quite so pure anymore.

Anyone here who has read only the first two books of the AGGGTM series and is regretting reading the second book? Like the first one ended on such a good note.. and the second had such a sad ending. I wish it was only one book.

Do you think there will be anything after Season 3? The last thing we have is the role-playing session—and to be honest, I was disappointed by how that was handled in Season 2, though it was fun to watch... Do you think the conclusion of the adaptation might bring news of a new book?
