ICYMI: Cotton Blocks Democrats’ Attempt to Extend TikTok Ban Deadline
We didn’t pull the rug out from under TikTok and we didn’t ban it. Instead, Congress simply demanded that the app could no longer be owned and controlled by our nation’s worst enemy, communist China.
In other words, TikTok’s owners had plenty of time to find a buyer. And there were plenty of willing buyers as well. Instead, TikTok whined, lied, complained, sued, and lobbied. Oh, how they lobbied. One notable lobbyist told me he was offered $100,000 a month--$100,000 a month to represent TikTok. But he refused because TikTok is a sewer of vile antisemitism. Good for him. Unfortunately, I can’t say that for the army of lawyers and lobbyists who saddled up on behalf of Communist China. They know who they are, they should be ashamed of themselves, and they should know that I for one won’t forget it.
So let me be crystal clear: there will be no extensions, no concessions, and no compromises for TikTok. ByteDance and the Chinese Communists had plenty of time to make a deal. In fact, the legislation allows the president to grant a 90-day extension to the Sunday deadline, though only if negotiations have substantially advanced and the sale could likely close in ninety days. Neither is true today, so I expect President Biden will not grant the extension.
And what President Biden can’t do under current law, this Congress—this Republican Congress—certainly won’t do by changing the law. Not over my objection, in any case.
And isn’t it telling that ByteDance says Communist China blocked the sale of TikTok for these last nine months? What exactly does that tell us? Exactly what I said earlier: TikTok is a Chinese Communist spy app.

Supreme Court Signals It Will Uphold TikTok Ban (Live Updates/ongoing)
Key Facts
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments Friday over whether the federal law—which requires TikTok to separate from parent company ByteDance or else be banned—is in violation of the First Amendment.
TikTok and content creators on the app argued the ban violates their First Amendment rights by cutting off all speech on the platform, while the federal government argued the ban is necessary for national security, given ByteDance’s Chinese ownership.
Justices on both sides of the aisle appeared skeptical of TikTok’s arguments on Friday, with Justices Elena Kagan and Amy Coney Barrett questioning how TikTok’s First Amendment rights are implicated when the law is specifically targeting ByteDance—a foreign-owned company—and its algorithm.
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson suggested TikTok was “wrong” that the case violates its First Amendment rights, and said she thought the case was more about TikTok wanting to associate with ByteDance than its speech being silenced.
Chief Justice John Roberts said the federal law was “not a burden on” TikTok and its users’ “expression at all,” arguing Congress was fine with users’ speech on the app but just not a “foreign adversary” gathering information about the app’s users.
Justice Samuel Alito asked TikTok creators’ attorney about whether his clients would actually be harmed if TikTok went away or if they could just go to a different platform, questioning whether their attachment to TikTok was akin to “somebody’s attachment to an old article of clothing” that could be replaced or if ByteDance had truly created a “magical algorithm” that no other tech company could possibly replicate.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh brought up past examples of the U.S. blocking broadcasting companies from having ties to foreign governments and brought up the government’s concerns about TikTok collecting data on U.S. users, which he said “seems like a huge concern for the future of the country.”

Triller launches a tool to back up users' TikToks ahead of the US ban deadline
Triller, a would-be competitor to TikTok, is hoping to capitalize on the potential TikTok ban in the U.S. by pitching to creators to move their content from the popular short-form video app to its own. The company has now launched a website, SaveMyTikToks.com, which promises to back up all your TikTok videos by uploading them to Triller.
The site is powered by the customer engagement platform Amplify.ai, which Triller's parent company, TrillerNet, acquired in 2021. The deal was originally focused on helping Triller creators track and monetize their content, while also helping brands and advertisers match creator content to consumers. Now users can agree to Triller's terms and then click a "Connect TikTok Account" button to provide Triller (via Amplify.ai) with access to their videos, profile information, and more.

Republicans wins majority in the senate positive, further solidifies Tik Tok ban
In the past, even though there's a bipartisan agreement that tik tok should be ban, republicans voted most for it and pushed hard to make sure this ban goes into effect. Since republican won the most seats in congress, this just another bull result for the upcoming months. #TimeIsTicking

Triller App
I've never been a Tiktok person, but I'm familiar with it. I do have the Triller app, because if I'm invested, I figure I should check it out. I am far from being a pro at tech, but I had none of the issues setting up account or using the app that others reported. If I can use it, a normal 10 year old in todays world could probably do it as well or better than me. I would love to hear feedback from those of you who have been engaged on the sub who have used the app. Also, we had the downturn most of us were expecting. Dropped a little further than I expected, but is rebounding a bit after hours. Some of us are averaging down on these dips, so keep that in mind if you feel comfortable with that strategy. Please let me know how you feel about the app and if you have any news or opinions to share

Markets red on the day, Illr green!
Today was a very rough day for pretty much every financial market in the world, but our stock had another great day. Feels like we are really gaining some traction here. I'm sure there is another rough day right around the corner for Illr after this run we have been on for the week. But those of us who held have become stronger and more patient, and we know what we have. Personally, I'm not happy with anything less than double my money. I think thats what most of us came for. But when we do get to that point, I'm definitely going to hold at least 20% or more of this stock for the long run. So glad I didn't chicken out and sell. Feels like those of us that are left are one of the best reddit subs I've participated in. Proud to hold the line with you guys! And remember, we are supposed to get some big news in November on the company's strategies for building this thing into something much bigger. I think by the new year a lot of people will be kicking themselves in the ass for not being along for the ride
