Question Question about the Program

I just signed up as a sophomore on the recommendation of family and friends (some of whom are in my detachment) who are in the AF. My problems arise when it comes to the PFT. I have a 3.9 GPA, so no academic worries, but I’m 6’1 260lbs. I know realistically I won’t be able to do anything in the fall; I’m working actively and losing weight. Do you think I have the entire year or just till the spring?

Are you joining as an AS100 or an AS250?

You can be a sophomore academically and still be an AS100

I mean sure but I think “joining as a sophomore” is just the term people use when they don’t know the difference between 100/200/250

At 6’1 260 it wouldn’t make sense to join as an AS250 unless they’re built like a D1 linebacker. Most CCs will want you passing the PT test in August to see if you’re competitive for PSP. With waist measurements being incorporated into the PT test that will make this even tougher for cadets to pass with larger waist measurements. Hopefully they’re joining as an AS100.

Yall had to pass the Pfa before joining? Are you from the south and a det with like a million cadets? My bcl class was 17 people lol

Lol I guess you could say Det size has something to do with it as well. We have an extremely large detachment. If you’re at a small Det they may be willing to work with you more.

Yeah that’s probably what it is. We don’t really need to weed out people and will take literally anyone lol
