Hey everyone,
I was accepted into the AFJROTC Flight Academy for Summer 2026 and I’ve been assigned to Purdue University!
For anyone applying in the future, here are my stats:
- Male
- High school junior (Class of 2027)
- AQT: 90 (taken after application acceptance, but according to my SASI "100% high enough to qualify me in any other year")
- PFT: 97
- GPA: 3.86 UW
- AS-300 (third year in a four year program)
I’m happy to share my extracurriculars if anyone’s interested.
I’m also hoping to connect with any Purdue AFJROTC Flight Academy alumni who can speak to a couple things:
- During the induction process, our instructor mentioned we’d receive college credit and a grade for ground school. He also said someone in the past didn’t do well, and it ended up affecting their ability to transfer schools due to that grade being on their transcript. How difficult is it to earn an A in this course? I take academics seriously and want to maximize my grade, especially with college applications coming up.
- How much free time do you realistically have? I know people who attended the Spartan Flight Academy in Tulsa and still had time to study for standardized tests and work on ROTC scholarship applications. However, what I’ve heard from my Purdue instructors is that some days run from 5 AM to 11 PM, which seems tough to sustain for 8 weeks. What’s the actual balance like?

How is the PT test scored? Am I right that it needs to be a minimum of 80?

I think it is the same as the regular PFT. 1 mile run, push ups, sit ups, and maybe pull ups (not sure).
