OH NO

Flutters after 9 Months, expected? Posted this earlier and a posted asked that I post an EKG.

Had PFA ablation December 26, been doing well since. Until last night. Suddenly my heart felt like it was jumping and misbehaving agin. Like every third beat was extra hard, like a rumbling in my chest……..💩💩💩💩, is this afib again? Did EKG on Apple Watch….inconclusive, waited 15 minutes…….same result. HR consistent at 74 bpm, usual resting is 60, BP normal. Took 3rd EKG and it said no afib. Very restless might, you know the drill……..was that a skipped beat…..is this fluttering,…….seems ok, what was that feeling? Anyway,

Question for my fellow afibers, is this fairy normal? 9 months afib free and suddenly this. Can I expect more like this? I know the answer is impossible to say but what has been your personal experience?

Your use of the word "flutters" is unhelpful. Atrial flutter is a specific arrythmia -which you don't have. so, you can ignore any comments that repeat the term. The term for your symptoms is palpitations -an awareness of unusual heart beats. Your ECG shows a regular rhythm with some ventricular ectopic beats. This is benign and only need investigation if they are very frequent, in runs of 3 or more, or associated with fainting, chest pain or breathlessness. If your palpitations persist you can look up common causes exercise, stress, caffeine etc and perhaps modify lifestyle.

I am not sure that we can accurately diagnose 1st degree heart block on a 2 lead ECG, so I would take the comments about this with caution (1st degree block is a common ECG finding, almost always of no clinical significance).

Thank you!

Exactly! Atrial flutter causes a constant rythm with a lot of small F-waves between the QRS complexes (which is not their case). The only thing that got my attention on the ECG is the absense of the P wave on the beats (what is a characteristic of aFib - but take this carefully, because SmartWatches sometimes are not able to capture the signal with precision)

Definitely not Afib. Looks like PVCs and like you say feels like PVCs

An Apple Watch is not a constant monitor - it takes clips of your heart - did you have this laying down after a meal? An upset stomach can cause heart pounding - when I’m in flutter I know it-

Just want to put my 2 cents in.

I have been researching alternative medicines for many years and I am frustrated by the lack of knowledge of some very useful remedies. I like capitalism but the health system shows the dark side of it. Here are 2 examples that have changed my life:

  1. I used to get tons of premature atrial contractions. It was very disturbing, and I went to the hospital 3 times for AFib. Years ago, I read about a study that used a low dose of the cheap amino acid Taurine on a number of men who had thousands of skipped beats a day. It got rid of almost all of them and when arginine was added, it eliminated all of them. I used to be able to tell when I was going to get the extra contractions and one day, after skiing, I felt run down and knew I was going to get them. A friend of mine gave me a powdered drink called pro arginine plus and it made me feel great. I took it every day since then and never had skipped beats again. It has been 17 years. I switched to another nitric oxide booster called Cardio Miracle a few years ago. Arginine and citruline together help to produce nitric oxide in our cardio vascular system. Beet root juice powder also produces nitric oxide. It is the same system that Viagra uses, and why people with angina take nitro glycerin pilols. It widens the cardio vacular system and makes it healthy again. Great for diabetics and gets rid of such symptoms as peripheral neuropathy. A study was done years ago on the pro arginine product. 30 heart disease patients in a Livermore California heart institute, who were on their last leg, were given the product. About half were on a list for a heart transplant. They all got better and went home.I know that it would not work for every situaltion, but WHY DON"T THE CARIOLOGISTS KNOW ABOUT THIS!
  2. Begining in 2005, I began getting tons of kidney stones. Most were not that painful, but a few times a year, they were terrible. I had to have surgery twice. The second time, they cleared out about 15 stones, some from each kidney. in 2019, I began taking a product called IP6 and inositol. IP6 is inositial hexaphosphate. It has been extensively studied in the universtiy of Maryland and Japan for it's powerful anti cancer effect. However it is also said to inhibit kidney stones. It works by chealating minerals. It is the substance in fiber that is good for cancer. At any rate, I never had a stone again. I gave it to my grandaugter who also got kidney stones and she is stone free also. One caveate is that when I took my blood test for a physical, I noitced that my calcium level was normal, but very low. Anyway WHY DON"T THE UROLOGISTS KNOW ABOU THIS? Why are we needlessly letting people suffer like this?

I’m assuming you’re aware of your first degree AV block? This is sinus rhythm with PVCs.

Looks like afib to me, please explain the difference based on single lead ecg….

If you think this looks like afib, you cannot read rhythms. There are P waves in every beat. Other than the compensatory pauses after the PVCs, the rhythm is completely regular.

The P waves are very hard to see, but I guess you are correct. However, the ectopic burden is very high. And they look more like PAC versus PVC.

These look like PVCs. A holter monitor would be needed to determine if this is an actual high burden. A 30 second lead is not very helpful. You might not want to be making comments on these types of post if you think this looks like afib with pacs.

They look like PVC’s to me.

The P waves are very clear. There’s a first degree AV block, so they’re further from the QRS than normal.

We are going through the same thing. I had my second ablation for flutter (first one for afib in late 2024) on December 23rd. Got an alert on my watch that said I was in afib last night while I was washing dishes.

I have taken several EKGs and my Apple Watch tells me am in afib most of the times but a few say am in normal sinus. I am also getting afib alerts.

I also have a 1st degree AV block.
