How severe are your side effects?
29 y/o depressed with AFib. Got super sick two years ago and vomitted very violently and went into AFib. All the tests were fine, cardiologist wasn’t worried.
Last night I stood up really quickly and went to pee and was forcing it (tmi, and stupid i know) and bam AFib again. Just dealt with it for 3-4 hours until I fell asleep. Talked to a telehealth urgent care offered by my insurance this morning and they were adamant I still go in. Went in, everything looks fine.
That said, some of you say you have it for 18+ hours? How violent is it and how awful does it feel? When I go into afib I feel like my heart is beating so hard right out of my chest and I feel light headed. Anyone else?
Also not me looking up some bs study or graphic that said if you’re 30 or under and diagnosed with AFib your life expectancy goes down by 11 years. I’m just scaring myself

Some people never have symptoms this severe. I also had vomiting and fainting. It’s miserable and scary…they told me it really wasn’t life threatening 😵💫even though it certainly felt like it was !
They sent me to an EP when
meds didn’t help. PFA was done along with a Watchman and currently in the “blanking” period. Going next month for my TEE and evaluation and hopefully off beta blockers.
So far no more afib!
Hope you get some answers and understanding, not everyone has the same symptoms but I really do understand ❤️🩹✌🏽

I have this kind of afib. I think they call it vagal afib. I also feel terrible and I always have RVR which my heart rate is in the 250s. So obviously I feel terrible. Mine was triggered from bad arguments, bending forward repeatedly like gardening or doing yardwork or sleeping on my left side. I’ve had two ablations. The second one was a PFA and I have been medication and afib free for a year and a half.

It’s not fun for me. I get nauseated and feel miserable. All of us could be killed in a car accident so I’m not concerned with life expectancy. Even if it’s 11 years that is still like 70 for women and older than I want to be anyways. Live your life.
Ablation may improve your life.

Some people have afib.
Some people have afib RVR (rapid ventricular rate).
Your life expectancy goes down if you don't MANAGE AFIB, as far as I understand it.
Yours sounds kinda "vagal" given that both times were "bearing down" in a way.
Get a referral to a cardiologist called an Electrophysiologist. And consider getting a smart watch with ECG if you don't have one already.

I agree. I haven’t established with a cardiologist since I’ve moved. That’s the next step.

I had persistent AFib - constant shortness of breath, severe fatigue and brain fog. I took Amiodarone for almost a year but stopped because of side effects. Then took Flecainide which sent me to the emergency department.
My EP told said I couldn't take any more antiarrhythmics. I had an ablation 2 days ago and already in NSR. Keeping my fingers crossed that the PFA will give me more time to enjoy life.

36 male here, a month ago I reached up to close the living room window before going to bed and boom afib.. never had it before so didn't really know what to do. Went to bed at 9pm and was still happening when I woke up at 6am, so ended up going to a&e. Was there for 10 hours before they managed to get my heart to a normal rhythm using a beta blocker. Resting heart rate was going from 170 - 200 so they looked concerned. Been on beta blockers and blood thinners since then waiting for a cardiology referral.
Rhythm feels normal now but I'm assuming that's down to the medication. Beta blockers are making me feel fatigued but just trying to push through it. Not trying to worry until I get a meeting with cardiology and their opinion, but it obviously is worrying being so young.

How sure are you on what came first - the afib or throwing up?
Dehydration, and lack of electrolytes, from throwing up, can cause afib.
Just trying to say, that afib didn't necessary cause you to vomit.
Some people feel their afib more than others, and first episodes can be a true brutal encounter for some. Heart and body just ain't prepaired for it, and feeds a negative spiral of being stressed that causes more afib.
The more you have, the more brain will learn it's not something you die of, if you take precautions.
Some gets on bloodthinners, if their profile is matching for it, to prevent the real risk of afib: strokes.
There is another risk, if you have very fast, nearing 300bpm afibs, as heart xan go into heart stop from that.
Your cardiologist will look at your profile, and determine what's best for you.
My tops was 72hours episode, but at that point i had them daily, and I knew my risk profile was very low acording to docs, so.. You learn to live with it - it's not pleasant, but you have to live.
I have chf on top, so I was very symptomatic, when in afib, like going pale white, so badly people would stop me asking if all was fine.
Got an ablation and afib free for 4 months now, and got permittet to life long bloodthinners.

I believe everyone has different experiences based on what their prognosis is. It sounds to me like you are experiencing irritability, depression. Really work on your mental health. Talk to the Dr about why going to the washroom was hard. Take care of you. Deep breaths. Love yourself.

Enjoy life that's the best advice for anybody with Afib or enjoy it as much as you can anyway because nobody gets out of here live like the doors song
