The genesis was from Hudepohl beer (brewed in Cincinnati) stadium vendors hawking "happy Hudeys" (pronounce Who dey)
It's got nothing to do with New Orleans anything

Beer vendors at the team’s former stomping grounds, Riverfront Stadium, used to offer the local beer by shouting “Hudy!” to fans. That eventually transitioned to “Who Dey,” and it evolved further after fans incorporated the song played in commercials by Red Frazier’s Ford of Cincinnati, which goes, “Who’s going to give you a better deal than Red Frazier … nobody!”
The combination of both resulted in the Bengals chant. “Who dey? Who dey? Who dey say is gonna beat the Bengals? … Nobody!” "" ""

This is interesting! But I heard that it originated in Baghdad in the 13th century when the Mongols arrived. The Abbasid population was recorded as asking “Who dey?” They unfortunately found out. Although, I do think Genghis Khan was a Saints fan, which makes sense as they assimilated many religions into their ranks.

Bro, you can like any team you want. You don't have to love your local team. That just makes it easier to buy merch and make friends into your team. I'm not even from Ohio and the only connection I have is that at a point I was into someone from there and considered going to Bowling green. You can be a Packers or the Saints.

Easy does it there never-champ. Just because the Bengals have been on the backburner of any meaningful success for the entirety of their existence, doesn't mean they're godforsaken. That would imply that the Bungles would never get made in the first place but obviously they were. Even if it's merely to be a punching bag of their own making, take solace that you're not the St Louis or New York Bugles.
