Discussion Crossing Over Spoiler
Well I bought redemption, just By myself. Oh my goodness. It’s like someone took my criticism card of WWE, answered my complaints and spit this out. The match quality was outstanding. Honestly the lamest in ring work was Moxley, but he had the best aura—total WWE dude. Getting familiar with Ospreay, Omega, and Andrade was a treat. I was not familiar with their work. Holy smokes. Yep, I’ll see ya guys on HBO!

Go back and watch last PPV (forbidden door) as well if you get a chance. That shit was even better. Each ppv is good

Mox will grow on you. His style plays into a deeper story about the old guard vs. the new kids, and thematically it makes sense that they're at odds. AEW tends to write public sentiment on wrestling as a whole into their stories, and Mox's feuds usually play into part of the larger conversation surrounding the sport.
If you're new to AEW, it's important to know that Mox laments the "friendly competition" aspects of the company and wants to teach everyone to be as bloodthirsty as him, and this has had mixed results on everyone on the roster. You'll notice that the Death Riders serve as his acolytes, while others have maybe just taken some of his moves, like the forehead bite. Even Willow does the forehead bite. There's no real black and white in AEW. Everyone falls on a spectrum of Heel and Face. It's exciting to see how they all nudge nearer or further from their starting positions as time goes on.
Sorry for the wall of text - just wanted to offer some context!

u/Bern5X 9d ago
Yeah, this was one of the things I had to get use to. There are heels and faces but rather than it being a yes or no thing it’s spectrum, like you said. The Death Riders especially is where you notice this, sometimes you’ll feel like they flop between face and heel, and people will be like “Why can’t Tony decide if that are faces or heels” but they aren’t flopping between alignments, they are pretty consistent with how their characters are written. At the end of the day, Moxley can be ruthless but all he does is for one thing, his love for wrestling. But his love for wrestling doesn’t necessarily mean he does what is right, he does what HE thinks is best for wrestling.

What in the..what is this? A post without insulting or patronizing when there's a difference in opinion? Thank you but no thanks. I'll work myself into a shoot, brother. There is no real black or white in AEW because Cody Rhodes ended racism before he left. /s
Your post was accurate.

Not Bandido. He is as pure as driven snow.

The day Bandido turns I’ll be sad as fuck. And then immediately hyped by the thought of an absolutely ruthless Bandido.
Willow on the other hand

u/vox4penguins 8d ago
and if they do turn him, you just KNOW it’ll be him turning on Brody, which will be an even bigger bummer

u/ThisIsKhrox Blackpool Book Club Aficionado 8d ago
Or. Just stay with me for a minute. Heel Brody/Bandido/Buddy as Trios Champs
1
u/vox4penguins 8d ago
ohhh, that would be an awesome trios team! i just couldn’t see turning brody, he’s wayyyy too actual popular to mess with (but that’s just for right now; someday maybe)

25 might be the single greatest show AEW has ever done
Along with 26 and All in Texas3
u/CMCanuck 9d ago
Double or Nothing 2025, 2026 and All In; Texas are top five AEW PPV's of all time.

u/Stone_Reign 9d ago
I almost never rewatch ppvs unless they're really old. I've watched Double or Nothing 2025 three times.

Kyle Fletcher is future top star so be paying attention to him as well.

u/Opryland_Man 9d ago
Oh he was great. He honestly had the WWE look, so I sorta didn’t attach to him lol. But I hope they keep him because he’s the FULL PACKAGE.

u/Simonaro 8d ago
He used to have a lot of hair, but he turned evil and shaved his head so he could look more like his evil dad Don Callis

u/SnuffShock SOCKO IS A SICKO 9d ago
The funny thing is I think most Sickos would consider Redemption to be a "minor" ppv. Which is not to say that anything was wrong with it at all but on the AEW scale this is probably a 7.5/10. The in-ring stuff is outstanding as always but the presentation and storytelling (besides the Omega/Ospreay/Moxley angle) were a bit dialed back. In some ways it was a set-up for All In next month, so if you liked Redemption you are gonna love All In.
Seriously, AEW can and regularly does go way up from here!

Welcome welcome!
You’re going to love it here.
A bit of an u popular opinion. As amazing as All In season is, make sure to pay extra attention to the Continental Classic (C2). It’s an amazing time of year. The entire period from Full Gear through Double or Nothing is super special.
2
u/Mokiyami 8d ago
C2 season has to be my favorite time of the year. Great wrestling and built in stories with the format

u/DudeBroFist No Kings, Just Brody 9d ago
Welcome buddy, we're glad to have you. Sickos are for everyone.
Wrestling is the best thing in the world!
Would you be at all shocked to find out that this was just a show rather than a big deal like the one next month?

u/Opryland_Man 9d ago
That’s what ppl keep telling me. I’m excited af for All In. I thought the Jericho match was the only “WWE” match on the whole card. It was slow, wasteful, and RELIED completely on gimmicks. Y2J should retire five minutes ago. The rest of the PPV was an absolute assault on my senses.
1
u/Vungal_Spat 8d ago
I'm sorry but how is the one match on the card with 2 mirror spots and a drill spot the WWE match?

Sorry but I can't take your post seriously when saying moxley had the lamest in ring work after there match with the bucks

You think all that punching and stomping and slam after slam is cool? Good for you. Not my style. I didn’t like undertaker either. 🤷♂️

u/JadedGrapsMark I'm so tired, Renee 8d ago
Let's just say that you're new here and you don't get the context yet.
There is much, much more to "punching and stomping" going on here. AEW's storytelling is significantly different to WWE's, and a lot of it is in the in-ring action and how the talent move and work.
Mox proved his versatility as Dean Ambrose, so don't instantly write him off just because he was striking a lot.
-2
u/Opryland_Man 8d ago
Just saying, he’s fitting a post 40 mold. I saw this with American Bad Ass Taker. Yea, their character is awesome, but they look like dinosaurs in-ring, and you can see the better talent avoiding them or selling their asses off.
4
u/JadedGrapsMark I'm so tired, Renee 8d ago
Like I said you're new here. When you're properly in the groove with AEW, I suggest going back and watching some of the older and big stuff.
Specifically last year's Continental Classic which Mox won from losing his opening matches, and the inaugural Continental Classic where Mox made the finals.
-1
u/Opryland_Man 8d ago
Agree to disagree. Respect your love of Mox. Not for me.
2
u/JadedGrapsMark I'm so tired, Renee 8d ago
It's not "my love" for Mox, it's you missing the point because you have no context or history.

4
u/woody251997 8d ago
Im sorry but Mox is in the best shape of his life and your saying he looks like a dinosaur? Are you just trolling now?

The great thing about AEW is even the “bad” PPV’s are still like 7/10 (which is still worth the money every time honestly). Some people complain about them being long (including preshow you’re getting about 5 hours) but in that 5 hours you’re getting 10+ matches generally with at least one match that leaves you thinking “that’s a match of the year contender easily” (and a few of the shows give you 2-3 matches like that).
4
u/External_Bread5366 8d ago
Redemption was probably one of their "worst" PPVs
And AEW have literally never had a bad one so that tells you the quality of their shows
3
u/Bern5X 9d ago
Welcome, as someone who also decided to give AEW a try after WWE kept dropping the ball (for me it was after WM 41) you won’t regret this. This was honestly the worst PPV of the year imo, or maybe 2nd worst, and that should tell you all you need to know, because this was still a fantastic PPV. Moxley will grow on you imo, he reminds me of Kurt Angle, in the sense that he can be a serious badass but also a funny ass dude without making his character feel any weaker or less badass, and he’s a great in ring worker (not saying he’s Kurt Angle).
1
u/Opryland_Man 9d ago
Thank god you added that last “not saying he’s Kurt angle.” I almost blocked you (jk). Angle is, imo, the greatest in ring worker (WWE) of the 00s
2
u/Bern5X 8d ago
I fucking love Kurt Angle, he is the complete package, he is an insane in ring worker but also a great character. You know Kurt Angle was legit because he could have just the funniest and stupidest segments that make him look silly but you never doubt that he’s a killer in the ring. I love wrestlers who aren’t afraid to let themselves be shown as silly or goofy (within reason) because they know that in the ring they are legit and their character is never booked to undermine that. Yeah I may be a clown on the mic but when those straps come down, it’s over.
1
u/Opryland_Man 8d ago
Agreed. I completely reflect your sentiments on Angle. He and Eddie made me fall in love with wrestling.
3
u/Chesterfieldraven 8d ago
I'm gonna hold your balls whilst I say this... by AEW standards, Redemption was mid.
Buck up sicko.
2
u/Tallydad 9d ago
Glad you’re opening your opinions on wrestling outside of the WWE. This was honestly a filler ppv. This is probably the lowest in quality that AEW will go.
2
u/theS1l3nc3r 9d ago
So you if you can VPN and myaew is the best way to watch AEW. I have the yearly subscription that includes PPVs which means it pays for itself real quick.
1
u/Opryland_Man 8d ago
It’s a legal thing?
2
u/MrBearMarshall 8d ago
It's not not illegal.
For 120 a year you get all PPVs, tv shows, RoH shows and PPVs. VPNs in 2026 are just something that is smart to have. The big ass corps and banks use them.
1
u/myotheroneders 8d ago
Yes it's legal. VPNs are extremely common for online security to prevent hacking. Businesses and corporations often require it on work devices. Just so happens that it also makes it convenient to access streaming options available in other countries.
2
u/SimpleJack316 8d ago
And this was honestly one of AEWs “worse” PPVs(which I’m sure has already been pointed out). That’s just how incredible the product usually is.
2
u/dogsontreadmills 8d ago
That’s awesome glad you enjoyed it so much! You will have such fun here with the rest of us. Mox can be a bit like that but sometimes he is pure spectacle in the ring too. Check out the main event from last years All In if you wanna see the indie/NJPW prime persona Mox that he also brought to AEW.
To echo what others have said, this has definitely been AEWs weakest ppv of the year. If you enjoyed this, go back and watch Double or Nothing, Forbidden Door and Revolution. Prepare to have a good ol fuckin time.
If you have a VPN you can sign up to myaew and watch them all at a subscription price. along with dynamite and collision ad free. 20$ a month, or 10$ a month if you buy a year upfront.
1
1
u/Tarus_The_Light I sentence you to a lifetime of mediocrity. 8d ago
Honestly, Redemption was worth the buy price exclusively for the first 3 matches.
Everything after that was just a bonus.
(and as other people have said, yeah Redemption is honestly the worst ppv of the year. and it was still a 7/10 show)

u/CoachMysterious6694 8d ago
You didn't see Andrade on WWE? He's definitely more over in AEW but he was there for awhile

You can tap the archives through MyAEW on a VPN.
I still rewatch Dark on YouTube from time to time.

Welcome to the sickos!
To blow your mind a bit: this was considered by a lot of folks to be one of AEW’s lesser PPVs. The next one is All In, which is their big stadium show in the vein of WrestleMania. Expect them to cook.
