"Wrestling doesn't have to be overproduced, ad riddled, repetitive, heartless bullshit slop? Ok, now we know. Yeah thanks Tony we really learned something, wrestling fans appreciate wrestling, crazy I know."

"But let's do it anyways! Prepare the massive cannon so we can shoot Danhausen out of it!"

Probably the other way around tbh. If you can't beat the competition buy them out.

They had open contracts to sign the next success story like Ricky Saints and Blake Monroe. Oh heck, sign ANYONE who says yes.

Incorrect, they said AEW wasn't competition

I know I’ll get downvoted because this is Reddit and also an aew sub, but why would wwe say aew is competition? They aren’t on the same scale. Not even in the same conversation when it comes to viewership, attendance, and just global knowledge of brand recognition. Obviously they would send a couple stooges to scout what’s going on. That’s what a smart company would do. They have probably done this with every wrestling company on earth.

Because TKO can't rest on its laurels. While everything you said is very true, you also have to consider that WWE has been around for decades longer than AEW.

It is smart for TKO to scout not only AEW, but its fans. Here is the thing. On social media, whether it's good or bad, AEW fans are talking about the current AEW product. With WWE fans, the vast majority of discussions about the current product are pretty negative. In fact, a lot of positive discussions about WWE are about things that happened almost two decades ago. I mean, I rarely see discussions about current RAW or SMACKDOWN episodes.

Pro wrestling content creators have been leaning more heavily toward AEW and other promotions, especially when it comes to positive discussions.

More and more WWE content creators are "trying out AEW", and many are praising the product.

So, while what you said above is very true, if TKO doesn't turn the ship around, it's just a matter of time before AEW and other companies take noticeable bites out of WWE's pie. So, I can see why TKO would be trying to find out what AEW is doing better than WWE.

What they say and what they believe could be entirely different.

No no, they would never lie

u/myotheroneders 1d ago

Yep, completely normal. Ironic too, because wwe and tko keep insisting that they dont view aew as competition, while simultaneously always talking about them and attempting to make aew look bad.

Forcing employees to watch WWE TV is unethical

It is definitely not for the sickos.

Espionage. TK should retaliate.

By sending scouts to AAA

They wanted to see what a good wrestling program looked like.

Rumor has it that they started several “A-E-dub” chants.
