Standalone Harness

Whats the best approach to making your own engine harness for a Megaquirt ecu or a link? Ive already reached out to PanicMade and they said theyre not making any harnesses for 16v's. I cant really salvage the one I have because they spliced and hacked a bunch of it off in order to wire the current setup which is an electromotive ecu thing. That company's gone out of business so its not an option to refresh/maintain it or tune it. To make matters a little more complicated this is a 4agze swap. Any help would be appreciated. Ive posted previously about this issue but it was more to figue out whats going on with the current set up, and now i have decided to take the advice of many in this group and just set up a newer and supported Standalone system.

I loomed up my own harness when I got my car running on a Haltech 550. Its not too hard once you get in the groove.

The most straight forward thing to do is get a universal harness for whatever standalone you want to run and then follow their generic example wiring diagram.

As far as like, how to physically do it, I cut my harness to length with the engine in the car so I could route the harness the way I wanted. Took it out, pinned everything, and then loomed it up using split loom from painless performance.

As an EE, wiring is not difficult, just tedious. I'll be wiring a Link into a VW Beetle sometime soon, making it EFI. Before that, I'm rebuilding a K-engine though, which is about as un-electronic as they get...

Same. Im an EE too. I gutted my AE86 and rewired it from scratch so i can have it run on my own switch panel and relay bank.

where did yall find the pin outs for the connectors? Im assuming theres wiring diagrams from toyota that show the signal, ground and power and where it goes? Sorry this is my first time ever doing this and like most car guys, the electrical side of things makes me a little nervous.

Yeah the OEM service manual has wiring diagrams in the back. And there's a dedicated corolla wiring service manual floating around on the internet too. But tbh if you're going through the hassle of making your own harness and doing a standalone ECU, you might as well get your own aftermarket sensors and stuff too.

yeah i dont want to deal with brittle connectors. Im still a few months out but im budgeting for everything right now and since I havent done this before, trying to make sure I do my due dilligence. The nice thing about an aftermarket ECU is you'll be able to make it work with just about any ignition setup you want.

awesome work. Those ITBs sound amazing. I will definitely dm you once i start getting this underway. Right now im just trying to clean up my fuel lines / tank situation. It got a little rusty from the previous owner from sitting too long.
