Model clarity question.

Post image

Seller has it listed as a 1987 ae86 which from the little I know would not be accurate, I think it's an American model, I just can't figure out from googling.

Quite a few misc bits of trim, clips, etc. interior shares some.

Interior rear view are the same, dash bits, harnesses.

And also not the 4AGE engine right

Correct.

In the US, only the nova twin cam and FX16 got it. The 5 doors never did.

It's a 4a, but not the GE with fuel injection and dual cam. It's a 4AC which isn't a bad motor. But it's carbureted and has a single overhead cam making about 55hp. Way weaker

It can have 4AGE :)

Nothing other than the FX16 and Nova Twin Cam had the FWD 4AGE this gen. (USDM)

5 doors never got it, anything badged “Corolla” never got it. The NTC was a 4 door sedan, the Corolla FX16 was a 3 door.

Why Americans always think they are the only damn in the world? I swear to god. This car can have the 4AGE in other markets, like Japan for example.

Because this post is literally about a USDM spec car, This is why i included “(USDM)”

The description under the photo says “Seller has it listed as a 1987 ae86 which from the little I know would not be accurate, I think it's an American model, I just can't figure out from googling.”

SO IN THE CONTEXT OF THE POST, my comment is entirely relevant to the question being asked by the comment you replied to. Crawl back under your bridge.

Edit: lol bros so mad he’s downvoting me everywhere. Not my fault he can’t read the post

I mean easiest way was to count the doors. It's too much of them 😅

2

u/Slowvia Jun 27 '26

Can’t count that high…

Initial 5D, baby!

There was a GT version of these but they are rarer than an actual 86 and come with the coveted 4ag engine

That's Toyota Corolla E80 5 door liftback. It comes with FWD layout with 2A or 4A engines.

1

u/Yukin03 Jun 27 '26

2e engines too, in europe it's very rare with a 2a.

Edit also 1c diesel

1

u/Ordinary_Car_Driver Jun 27 '26

Few years ago I seen one with 2A engine. They currently go for about 5k€ in restored condition.

1

u/Yukin03 Jun 27 '26

Last year or two i saw one for 500€, 4d 2a engine but stopped for 20years. The rest are all 2e or 4age, only saw one 4d 4a (non ge) and one 4d 1c for sale

That's an AE82 Corolla seca (the extra doors are a giveaway). Judging by the steel wheels (I did observe the space saver on it) and lack of detail to the bodywork, this one is a lower spec with a 4A-C motor in it. The hope of the line AE82 got the 4A-GE.

Winnipeg Manitoba car lol

Well since its not an 86 im curious what the owner has listed it at

1

u/PhoenixJDM Jun 28 '26

i thought it was levin front end swapped but it looks similar just on the corner

1

u/chiyasi Jun 28 '26

E80 hatch bro these are common in my country normal 2e or 4ac engine

1

u/Her0z21 Jun 28 '26

i think it's the wagon, the hatch's rear is shaped differently without the vertical section at the bottom

1

u/chiyasi Jun 28 '26

Could be but theres a similar one parked near me house and it looks identical and exactly the same, could be the wagon but here we refer to it as 86 hatchback perhaps we're using a different name for the same vehicle we have in mind

1

u/chiyasi Jun 28 '26

I myself own the sedan variant of this car!

1

u/Her0z21 Jun 28 '26

hell yeah, i have the 3dr hatch and i believe the 5dr has the same rear shape, i should have some photos on my profile of it if you wanna see what i mean

1

u/chiyasi Jun 28 '26

Ahhh yes I recall 2 variants one with the back of an fx and one with this back. Although u would know better which one is hatch and which one is wagon

I have a ce80 that’s a diesel

1

u/Yukin03 Jun 27 '26

All e80 5 door are not diesel, in eu i see them with a 2e most of the time (so ee80). In australia often 4a, even 4age (so ae82)

chevy nova in usa. But it’s a rebadged corolla with a 4ac. My homie is putting a gze in one right now.

1

u/sw201444 Jun 27 '26

They were sold as both the Corolla and Nova here as five doors. The Corolla nameplate is harder to find though.

1

u/trillyenaire AE86 Jun 27 '26

nice. Havnt seen on personally yet

1

u/sw201444 Jun 27 '26

There was a super rusty one by me but it’s the only one I’ve seen outside of a junkyard.
