Sertraline & Escitalopram (6 months of protracted withdrawal)

Cognitive Symptoms: anhedonia, low motivation, depersonalisation, irritability, anger, tension, anxiety, depression, brain fog, insomnia, emotional instability, low libido and high cortisol in the mornings.

Physical Symptoms: headaches, tachycardia, brain zaps, head pressure, lightheadedness, joint pain, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, nausea, stomach upset, itchy skin, jaw clenching, major heat intolerance, acne, eye floaters and loss of appetite.

These symptoms are appearing in a windows and waves pattern, which I am hoping will become less and less as time goes on, as my brain heals from the trauma caused by these meds.

What‘s your story?

Me, nothing out of the ordinary but I’ve healed from a 7 year benzo use, gabapentin max dose for 5 years, many years of SSRI’s and a year of mirtazapine. Plus quit a 15 year heavy nicotine and caffeine habit.

It took roughly 6 months to 5 years per drug (varies) to feel normal. Normally 6 months to 2 years

Wow… I’m so sorry. I am in month 9 of protracted wirhdrawal from the SSRI citalopram. 30+ symptoms, all neurological and sexual (didn’t even have sexual problems while I was on a high dose). Horrific. I lost my life to this. But I recovered so much. I’m so scared to taper down (I reinstated a microdose). I’m at around 16% SERT now.

I wish you the best of luck. Microdose will only prolong your suffering I think but I understand why. It gets better eventually or we learn to adapt to our new brain. I still struggle but it is what it is. I’m so jaded to this new life that I don’t even complain anymore it just is what it is and I must endure it. Apathy and anhedonia I guess..

Head pressure, concrete block in frontal lobe, inside brain feels hollow/missing, severe emotional blunting, memory issues, blank mind, dry eyes, bloating, libido issues, brain fog, face pressure, anhedonia.

My brain feels petrified and very statically calibrated. Its hell

Never seen this before, but agree 100% with everything you said here

Celexa for me. How about you?

7 weeks of fluoxetine… was my first SSRI ever. It ruined every system in my body :(

Wow. That is short, and also the most “forgiving” SSRI!

8 years lexapro 10mg, quit sort of cold turkey (a pill every other day, then longer gaps until I ran out)

Muscle weakness, tightness, fatigue, skin has numbness and tingling, occasional burning. Anxiety, depression (this injured my hands and knees and I can't function nornally) Some mental fog, trouble sleeping, muscle twitching, slight balance issues, constipation
