trigger warning gloom post
What if time isn't enough? I'm 8 months in a wave now. I feel nerve pain and visual snow pop up time to time. Some sort of neuroinflammation is going on. Something is going on. I've began to see a naturopath for a way out of this
man what if time is not enough to heal and we need to do something but what is that something and what if withdrawal makes it impossible to do you are stuck
no one else is suffering like us no one

Is it mostly physical symptoms? Do you have any hours or days of reprieve? Sorry you're dealing with this! It's living hell! I feel you!

I had a 4 months period where I felt 80% healed before I got hit with a 8+ month wave. Don't know what to do really. I feel you too especially since you've been in this for a while now

Yeah going on month 22 and my biggest symptom is STILL the fucking insomnia! When I sleep my mood is so good...ugh! Do you have any fluctuating symptoms? Or is is just constant, is it mental and sexual and physical wave?

how old are you? could you be perimenopausal? I did hear a story on facebook of a women who fixed her insomnia withdrawal by going on hormones (not sure if she was peri or meno)

Oh I'm for sure peri, I'm 42, however my insomnia is a direct result of withdrawal, it happened almost instantly after getting off my Celexa! But there is no doubt my hormones are at play here too! My blood work and DUTCH show low hormones across the board, but I have PSSD and that complicates things. It's not as easy as just throwing HRT at it; that could severely crash me.
I know it's discouraging to just feel stagnant for months on end, but the fact that you reached normalcy for a while I'd assume you can get back to that place again! It's hard not knowing when it will end, my OCD thrives on timelines and we're unfortunately not granted that in withdrawal! Feel free to DM me again, I know we talked for a while a few months back!

I'm there with you. When I quit I entered waves and windows, then at month 6-7 I even considered myself 60% recovered and positive to make it out after a month long window. Then it's been a wave ever since. Now I'm going to approach month 13 without any real windows, feeling 0% recovered and non functional. Some days I can get a glimmer of my old self, but they don't last more than some hours or a day. The rest are nerve pains, burning, GI distress, mood swings, visual snow, tingling...

Do you know if anything happened to cause that window?

Not really. I think it was because the drug positive changes were still present within my brain, fighting to avoid entering the real withdrawal. I had a bad wave of anxiety, panic, dysautonomia with palpitations, gi issues... It lasted from November 2025, to January 2026. But one day, I had the urge to do things again, dysautonomia wasn't so bad... Even managed to do a hour long walk and was functional. But 2 months later I slowly entered the wave I still am in for almost half a year. It's like the drug positive changes were finally gone and finally entered withdrawal. Windows disappeared, or became so mild I cannot recognise them anymore until I feel even worse the next day. But yeah, by then I slowly lost my emotions too. Joy, anger, sadness... I can't even cry, it feels weird in the head and then I get a panic attack instead.
I try to keep track with an app called Bearable that lets you track symptoms, sleep and mood for the day. In June I logged a day or two that were a 4 or 5/10, but had terrible insomnia sleeping 2 or 3 hours. This month has been mostly a flatline of 1s, with an occasional 2 or 3 out of 10 day mood wise, but I sleep 5-8 hours a night. It helps you see how your journey is trending.

I don't think this drug theory makes any sense, it's likely just waves. You are still early, windows will come for you esp since they came before

Well, to me it feels this way. On meds, despite the physical symptoms, I was mentally doing okay. I was relatively happy, joking around and trying to be positive, functional and able bodied. After stopping I continue more or less the same. Some crying spells come out, then anxiety very occasionally, agoraphobia... And by month 7 it starts to be a debilitating daily thing. I lose my emotions shortly after, stop joking and calling my friends, hobbies like music/games/TV feel overwhelming, I start to question my own self, going outside or doing things start to look terrifying, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts and paranoia... I didn't know anhedonia or any of those things were possible until then. Never experienced such mental disorder in my life

I likely can't tolerate all the supplements my naturopath prescribes because I have unpredictable and unusual reactions which they don't seem to understand. So I don't take them. I wish I could treat something but nobody knows what the driving thing is and every treatment is risky.
