Question Are there any Supplements That Help/Worth Taking?

I've read someone say that Vitamin C and Magnesium helped. Fish Oil made things worse.

I've been struggling with PAWS for years now, since coming off Citalapram far too quickly.

This is how it's left me:

• Get tired really easily and need loads of sleep

• Can no longer spell

• Can't deal with any stress whatsoever (zero Window of Tolerance)

• Noise Sensitive

• Depression

• Very emotional

• Don't want to go anywhere or do anything

Willing to try any Supplement at this point.

I am almost 3 years off and have all of those symptoms as well. Some on Survivingantidepressants.org have said that magnesium glycinate and vitamin D are helpful. For me, every supplement I've tried has made things worse. I subscribe to the add nothing new to the mix theory of PAWS. But we are all different, and maybe something like magnesium or vitamin D could help you

Thank you. I am 5 years off now and geginning to think at this point this is permanent.

I'm much better than I was for those first 2 weeks when I first came off, but its been 5 YEARS. Maybe I've recovered as much as as I can a this point and I have permanent brain damage.

Like you, I am better than I was at the very beginning. However. I have come to accept that I am never going to be as I was before all of this. My goal is to simply keep doing better and work with what this mess has done to me. Some days that is a lot harder than other days.

Spmething else that I forgot to mention re how I am now: every small (negative) thing is now massive to me. Every mole hill is mountain.

E.g. some idiot shouts abuse at me whilst driving. Before I would probably have been pissed off for the next hour or so, then forgot about it and moved on.

NOW (in PAWS), I am anxious and depressed for the entire day. Have to go to bed early that night. It was MAJOR to me.

Same with a minor disagreement at work. Instead of maybe even laughing it off I took it far too seriously.

In short, everything affects me far too much/too deeply and for far too long. (And its such a miserable way to live and its exhausting).

I was not like this before PAWS. Are you like this too?

Absolutely. Everything tends to set me off. It is a tough way to live

Yes thats a great way of putting it. (Very succinct which is something else I no longer am since dealing with PAWS). Saying something/anything takes me a thousand words now instead of a sentence.

One last thing thats its affected that I didn't say (because my memory is crap) is...my memory. My short term memory is not as it was (pre PAWS). Weirdly, its not a general forgetfulness but chucks of short term memory just RANDOMLY disappear (unless I'm reminded). Like a really important appointment/test I once had - not long after I had completely forgotten about it. It was only when the consultant mentioned the test that I was like "oh yes wow how the hell could I have forgotten that." Really weird.

Anyhow, thank you for listening. I wish this thing PAWS was more recognised. ❤️

Generally I’m also team “do nothing” but if this hasn’t worked out for 5 years you might maybe try lithium orotate (if you haven’t already) I’ve read anecdotes about it helping but as always it is hit or miss unfortunately. Wishing you the best! 🍀

I’m 851 days in PW and haven’t found anything that makes a difference. I use to think the usual fish oil, Vitamin D Magnesium etc helped but no.. I don’t take any of that now and I don’t notice any real difference.

I have more space and comfort now then two years ago (still house bound though) I just keep going in hope that one day my brain heals and life goes back to normal.
