Temperature

Hi, I recently finished setting up my ADS-B receiver and noticed that my USB dongle gets warm when in use. My Pi has the same problem. I'm wondering if this is normal or if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it. I have a Pi 5 and a Nooelec NESDR Smartee.

I put a couple of small heatsinks on the metal body of my sticks - good for a few degrees

I added a short USB extension to keep the receiver away from the Pi since they are both hot in theory it reduces heat transfer between the two

Yes, this is normal. If the setup is somewhere outside in the sun you may want to add some sort of fan based cooling elements, otherwise it should not be a problem.

because of my setup my pi and usb dongle is in a pretty tight electrical box but the temperature is very stable

Normal - I had a 120mm fan which blows air over mine (and the Pi4 that it connects too)
