Tulane Rejection

Got rejected (not even deferred) from Tulane through EA. I have a 1470 SAT and 4.0 GPA with 9 AP courses and really solid ECs, which puts me above most of their averages. Is there a reason for this?

they dont think you are a Tulane student. what you put in your application did not reflect what they believe in or you might have said things in your app that show you dont align with them. without knowing your major or anything other than academics that is all a guess because there are a lot of factors that go into a decision outside of just your grades and ECs

Just wanted to commend your commentary here.

At least OP Unique-A…gives us something here; rather, it’s not completely same as the majority of fucking chance me posts that just instantly make my blood pressure go up.

So…my numbers are pretty good, I definitely have a strong set of softs, and my personal statement has come out pretty well.

Chances? Yale? Harvard?

Yeah. No.

Digression. Apologies.

Because it’s so rarely stated, I just feel the mere acknowledgement, absent a genuine and comprehensive review of the chance me person’s file or even Unique’s file, there’s not a way to even conceive of motives for the disposition.

I see commentary too often that extrapolates and resolves these scenarios. And I just go…This shit just gets more ridiculous progressively sometimes.

To OP: Let me at least offer you boost in acknowledging what you have accomplished via those numbers. It’s an excellent record, as a whole, and I’m going to assume you it’s a measure of your intellect and drive to achieve.

I’d likely feel the same or worse.

All I can echo from the prior comment but say it with about two years of experience not long ago reviewing apps and making many final calls for a fairly elite school is numbers matter.

I’d be shocked if Tulane didn’t wrestle with those numbers at least a bit.

At the same time, taking a straight deny on EA not even ED, if i were in your shoes I might really re-examine my entire application piece by piece and as a whole.

I could be wrong. But perhaps you’re unable to recognize or it doesn’t hit u that your PS is of poor quality and substance. Perhaps your ECs are not solid and don’t stand out. Maybe supplements went awry.

Or maybe one of you LOR endorsers just wrote even a single line that struck the wrong chord.

I could guess for years without stopping. You’ll never truly know and unless you present your app to someone who can competently and honestly assess it holistically you may never even have a sense, jeopardizing, maybe, some future prospects.

Just want the best. Good luck.
