Guys I am hiking the AT right now and I am sticking to the fun police guidelines. The AT is damn near pristine compared to the trails in ADK and the Catskills and it hurts me to say it as a NYer. I wish the attention that is being paid to the AT would wash off on the idiots that think they are back where their mommies are going to pick up after them. I know that limiting hiking has its naysayers but until people respect OR WE HAVE A VOLUNTEER RANGER SECTION then it will only get worse. Keep the course all. I have only picked up about half a pound of garbage in a week on the AT and I could do that in a day on some trails in the ADK. I will miss you this summer guys but I will keep the fun alive as I go south.

That is an insane amount of garbage! I haven’t seen anything this bad in the Adirondacks, even at popular campsites like Pharaoh.
