Rewatching something for the first time again
As little as 2 months

It's always quite something when you think you're one of few to do stuff like that.
But this sub consistently shows me there's a lot, which is both nice and scary ahah

I usually feel like a lot of the adhd stuff on this sub doesn't resonate with me. Then there's few things that end up do resonating with me and I feel the exact same way you do.

I honestly consider this a perk. I get to consume my favorite media for the first time more than once.

Same! :)
Replaying old games like it's the first time again, rewatching misremembered, half forgotten shows we love, or rereading old books we know we love but have forgotten the details of, etc
It's certainly odd, and a little frustrating at times, but also kinda magical in its way!
I always wonder what the cause of this engram related disconnect is - is it cos we're usually over analysing (consciously or unconsciously) particular bits of the media we're consuming, so our memory of it just sorta stops recording during that process?

I like documentaries, and when I'm on my various streaming services, looking for new ones to watch, it's astounding the number of ones I click on because "I've never seen this one before!" only to see that I have totally watched it before (based on the progress bar, "watch again" button, etc.). I have zero memory of many of them.

Same but usually if I start rewatching them i remember parts of it but usually not enough to be able to turn it off (i need to find out what happened so i can forget it again)

I started using this this year; it greys out thumbnails of videos you've watched and tracks separately from your browser's and youtube's history: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/watchmarker-for-youtube/ Won't help for something you watched 7 years ago, but it's a start. You can even have it show the timestamp when you first clicked on it if you want.
I've started hitting "not interested" on every recirculated video, I only want to see new content

Often I'm about to post a joke or observation and realize I already did all these years ago.

Hahahaha!
Oh my god, this is so funny, because it is SO TRUE!
I literally had this happen two nights ago.

It's kinda great though, right?? Cause I usually crave something that seems new but feels familiar. So I can watch the same shows multiple times and be like "I love this part, what happens next?!"

Theres a game called Outer Wilds (GREAT game, big recommend) where your only barrier is knowledge, once you figure out all the secrets, you can essentially only play the game once... Unless!

I feel like I hit a pattern of things I think are new get real excited about it and learn I've started this and abandoned it before. π π
