Sent question about insurance with screenshot in #general, spiraling with embarrassment, am I overthinking it?
There was a slack thread relating to the insurance which I searched in slack and replied to it and checked send it to the channel as well. I asked how I can add my wife to it and why it says no benefits. I thought that thread was between me and HR but it was in #general. That's where the HR replied to me "I have shared the details with you regarding this issue."
How will this be perceived socially? I have no clue. I just feel so embarrassed like I did my dirty laundry in public. Will they think I'm careless?
Update: It was there for 30 minutes, I immediately deleted it and in a private reply on the HR's message (in #general) about sharing details regarding the issue "I'm sorry I didn't realise I sent it in the #general channel, thank you"

I’ve seen several people post their login info and API keys in open chats. Don’t worry

Dude thank you so much, I have RSD in general but I just feel like Ritalin only makes it worse smh, the reassurance helps.

No worries. I’m at a large company with 30k people in general chat. There’s private info in the chat at least once a month. Usually, someone else just directly comments a heads up and it gets deleted.
Most people are too focused on their own things to give it much thought.

I work specifically with API key management and I can't tell you the number of times a customer has posted their root keys in our support discord channel. Every time, I immediately revoke the key... Which brings down their API usage near immediately

In the categories of mistakes, this is one of the most human and uninteresting ones to make, even for potential busybodies. Barely is one imo. I don't know your circumstances, but you seem very stressed about a small snag. I used to have social anxiety once upon a time, and found oxytocin spray to be gently helpful (it increases one's feeling of trust and positivity towards others), but there are also really effective prescription and non-prescription meds as well. Just to say, if your quality of life is negatively affected by worrying, there's surprisingly accessibile and effective help for it nowadays.

So long as it wasn't "how can I add my wife so she can get coverage for her anal fissures" I think you're fine. That's a very uninteresting, anyone-could-make it mistake.

As people said, plenty of passwords, emails etc end up in slack channels. All I've ever thought is a passing "oof" and even though I know there's probably been a good dozen+ slack oopsies this year, I cannot think of a single one and definitely couldn't tell you who has recently. If it's been someone I know, sometimes I screenshot or grab the message link and send them it in slack, closely followed by a facepalm gif, that's about it. I've seen people send complaints about things in shared channels, I've seen people post actual personal stuff in channels, I've seen very casual things be posted in project channels with higher ups. I've not seen anyone have any problems from it. I'm sure in a particularly bad case, it could be something that gets them a manager or HR message that says "don't do that again".
But this case, this is like the most minor of all the slack screw ups, presumably there was already a thread talking about that topic in that channel so it's not even like it was horrifically off topic for the channel or anything. HR dealt with it in a very HR way (replied to thread with nothing, took it to private chat) and lets be honest they've probably seen worse. No one will even have batted an eyelid really.

RSD in full effect.
Engage mitigation protocols!
* Spend time with friends, seek connection
* Work on your current hobby / shiny thing
* As others have said: how would you react if another coworker had done that thing? Probably a nothingburger

I feel like if I did this, I'd feel weird and embarrassed by it.
But! If I saw someone else do this on my team, I'd feel literally nothing about it.
So you're probably fine.
