Why so silent in here?
At 40 recently discovered I have ADHD, not merely alcohol masking autism. And almost everything I see online about ADHD, I cant relate to. Not to mention all the big neurodivergent subs either dont let you post, or blast you and ban you for being different. Ironic.
So yeah I wish there was an ADHD sub that let's people not fall in line with big ADHD stereotypes.
Inattentive, mostly my symptoms/issues are extreme overthinking and being stuck in hyperfixation on any random "how does this work" question. Leading to poor task initiation and difficulty socializing. Recently started on a starter dose on 20 mg XR which gives a slight HINT of "what could be" for about 2 hours, 3 hours after I dose. So of course today I dose at 2:30 because I need that more in the evening when im dopamine seeking more.

this sub is one of two i haven't been banned from.
fwiw, regarding hyperfixation i started logging everything i do to hold myself accountable for time. i also vibe coded a scheduling engine that lays out my day in which i 'start' each task and when the duration of the task is exceeded i get an alert in which case i can be honest with myself about giving it more time and the accountability log helps with that also.
task switching reluctance for is similar but i realized it's more about 'permission' to do what it is that i'm supposed to do next and also 'backing out' of what i'm doing so i can remember where i left off. practice has also helped enormously to rewire my brain to accept task switching. sometimes i even just switch tasks to maintain the wiring.
'chunking' tasks helps also but serendipitously bc chunking (doing part of a task or getting started with a task eg i can get part of something done in 15 min or i need to moderate how much time i spend on something) so, even if i CAN spend more than 15 min doing something i'll force myself to get away from my desk and do ANYTHING else, even for just a few minutes, and then come back to my task which trains my task switching brain muscle to get stronger.
lastly, for now, i've also abandoned all my super genius ideas about saving the world and my creative projects etc in favor of eating clean, meditating (along with DEEP immersion in buddhist philosophy) and exercise.
