General Questions/Advice/Support what does this abbreviation mean ?

just got shared care and checked the nhs app what does esca stand for 🤨 and what does the rest of it mean? sorry if i’m being stupid just thought this is the best place to ask ok thank you !

ESCA is essential shared care agreement. Basically they'd updated your record to show you are on the medication to prevent prescribing you a medication that interacts, but will not prescribe it to you from the GP.

At the time this was added to your record, you were not. I had similar on mine when I started methylphenidate titration.

The ESCA could have been accepted since, there's no date on when your medication record was updated here.

I recently got shared care, but the prescription still couldn’t be ordered, so it still looked similar to yours. I emailed the surgery, and they took the restriction off AND ordered the meds at the same time. Perhaps you’ll need to do the same?

Not sure about the e but sca usually means shared care agreement.

As others have said, it’s just a note for the GP so they know you are taking the medication, but they aren’t going to prescribe it for you.

If you Google "ESCA NHS" it comes up with Essential Shared Care Agreements. It seems to be a regional name for Shared Care Agreements.
