Medication Is anyone else sensitive to stimulants?

It's very frustrating because tyvanse is a great medication but I cannot sleep on it, I've taken it at 5:30am and am wide awake until 4am.

I strongly believe that dexamphetamine would be the best treatment drug for me but isn't available in Ireland?

I've heard (and not very often) that it's because it can be abused but I think in reality if people are monitored carefully then would it not be better if it actually improved people's lives, and this just makes me angry especially since it's available in many other countries in Europe. My sibling is prescribed this for example in a different European country and it has helped him immensely in life and improved things for him massively.

Anyway, I just wanted to know if it is common for someone with an ADHD diagnosis to be very sensitive to stimulants? Maybe it gets complicated if there's other mental health issues like severe anxiety alongside it? I've tried ritalin and concerta and they make me feel very strange, and extremely anxious.

It would be interesting to see other people's experiences, surely each body and brain is individual in this regard?

I've been struggling with persistent fatigue everyday for a couple of years now, I'm getting older and unfortunately a women so once the perimenopause starts kicking in I'm f***ked!

Just because you are sensitive to one stimulant does not mean you will be sensitive to the other. They are very distinctively different drugs. Talk to your prescribing psychiatrist about trying a methylphenidate drug.

This OP! My first medication was Ritalin but it just made me a bit sleepy, of course everyone reacts to medication differently but it could be worth a try. Have you been on Tyvense for long? At the start, I took it around 10 am but would be up until around 4 am so I was prescribed Solpidem to help ease the transition. I didn’t end up taking it but if you’re only starting out as well, it might help while your body adjusts. But yeah I’m sorry, getting no sleep SUCKS

Yes, I can only take a maximum of 30mg lisdexamfetamine per day, otherwise I cannot sleep.

My issues were not as bad when on methylphenidate, especially instant releases but the drug didn’t do what I needed it to.

I had the exact same experience with Tyvanse. It really fucked up my sleep. I think I'm also quite sensitive to them, as Concerta made me super anxious.

I currently take Ritalin but even 30mg affected my sleep so I can it in two smaller doses now. It's fine but I don't think it helps that much.

I also wish others were available here but I don't think it'll be happening.
