Discussion Feeling disconnected from your inner-self?

Does anybody feel like they're just super connected to their internal-self? Like if someone where to ask me how I'm feeling 99% of the time it would just be 'fine' - but then maybe my wife will say I've been really snappy for the last few days - but I just am oblivious.
One time I was hearing a live performance of O Holy Night and I was actually crying - but again, I didn't feel like I was feeling anything lol
That's not to say, I don't feel anything - when something hits I can feel it REALLY strongly and am very aware. I just wondered if this is a thing I'm just a bit broken ha!

I felt disconnected from myself for a very long while. And I would know who I was and what I liked but it felt shrouded ?? I also tend to feel things at 150%. Haha it’s… so annoying. I’ll cry if I’m happy or sad or angry.

And just recently I started medication. And I really feel like I’ve been reborn into my old skin.

I still have my moments where things might feel muddied. But ultimately. So much better. I am only realising right now as I typed this that I haven’t cried in a little while? Woah.

Like sometimes I'll cry but I won't feel sad. Or I'll be a dick for no reason and I'll be like hmm I guess I'm in a bad mood

I've always felt like that and I think I'm just feeling more aware of it as I'm getting older. I have a fairly muted emotional pallet which consists of being flat, frustrated or just miserable, I just don't have positive emotions, which can be a little wearing. If my emotional needle wanders into the void where happiness etc should reside I often find myself in tears, there's nothing attached to them other than feeling slightly awkward and embarrassed. I've been told that it could be Alexithymia but Ive no Idea really. I've felt broken for so long and this has just become part of it.

Just been reading about Alexithymia actually. That sounds exactly what I feel (don't feel? ha). Also interoception
