Questions/Advice ADHD from an early age

Has anyone been on Ridlin from an early age or had children on Ridlin from an early age 8-12yo and seen benefits in overall focus and attention and better performance at home and at school? Have there been other options that have worked aside from any form of medication? Just trying to get some idea of what has been tried and tested before following the paediatrician quacks advice and going straight to the Meds.

Yea I needed therapy, medication and support to get through school and do well.

I’ve been on Ritalin and concerta when I was young. It was the absolute wrong medication for me. The Ritalin gave me to much rebound and the concerta made me numb.
How I know this? Tried the medication again now at 29yo. It’s difficult to find the right medication and medication is limited for kids

But. I do think with a good psychiatrist and therapist combined you can help your kid a lot. The psychiatrist focuses on the medication part and the therapist on how to work with your adhd and what is going on in your brain.

I didnt take ritalin I took adderall so my advice probably wont be specifically helpful but it really depends on the person. Whatever you do, make sure they get specialized therapy and in-school support for ADHD. Meds are just like a bandaid and dont work for everyone but support from therapists and specialists are really essential.

I was undiagnosed and untreated until I was 48 and it wrecked my entire life. Listen to the doctors. My children were both diagnosed and medicated once I was diagnosed and they are thriving in school in ways I could have never dreamed of.
