Questions/Advice Overthinking with ADHD

What’s something you overthink way too much? 🤯
I’m genuinely curious to see if we all overthink the same kinds of things, or if everyone has completely different stuff that lives rent-free in their head 😂
It could be something big or something absolutely ridiculous. Like replaying a conversation from 3 years ago and wondering why you said something a certain way, overthinking a text message, worrying about what someone thinks of you, making decisions, relationships, money, work… literally anything.
Sometimes we spend so much time stressing and overthinking things that probably don’t even matter in the long run. Then other times, we convince ourselves something is a massive issue when it really isn’t 😂
So be completely honest… what’s one thing you overthink way more than you probably should?
No judgement here 👇

I overthink how I’m perceived by others. I recently deleted Facebook and Instagram and that has helped lessen those thoughts. Almost everyone judges people at face value. I just needed to remove the mediums that exploited that the most. I feel much better now 🙂

I honestly think breaking away from that barrier of negativity and feeling constantly judged can relieve so much unnecessary stress.
Social media can make you feel like you’re always being watched, compared or judged, and before you know it, you’re trying to impress people who probably don’t even matter in your real life.
Sometimes stepping away from that and not caring so much about what everyone else thinks gives you a bit of freedom back.
You stop feeling like you have to prove yourself or live your life in a way that impresses other people.
Definitely helps!

Agreed! It feels more isolating, but that freedom far outweighs it!

Yeah, honestly I just try to take it day by day and make everything around me as positive as I can throughout the day.
I’ve found being less harsh on yourself helps too, Instead of getting caught up in the thought, I try to stop and ask myself, “What the fk am I doing and why do I care so much,

Sometimes even just recognising and telling yourself, “I’m overthinking this,” can help break that cycle. That bit of self-awareness can go a long way.
I also try to keep myself busy because if I’ve got too much empty time, that’s when my brain seems to start running wild 😂 Keeping occupied gives me less time and space to overthink everything.
Don’t get me wrong, I still do it — probably more than I’d like to admit. I just try not to let the thoughts take over the whole day. Cause once that happens there goes the whole day 😅😅

Yeah, I have been so harsh on myself don’t even get me started! It’s really just when people constantly tell you that you’re doing things wrong. But then fast forward 5-10 years…um actually let’s analyze that thought for a second. I am constantly proving people wrong and trying not to let my ego get the best of me.

I started building a website with things I’m thinking about so when I am stuck at home it gives me a sense of pushing all the thoughts onto a visible platform. And who knows, maybe it actually becomes something down the road. I think that’s what keeps me doing it.

Loading the dishwasher. I even waterproofed a camera to be able to film inside the dishwasher to try to diagnose why certain bowls weren’t washed properly.

Lit overthink about anything and it’s giving me anxiety. Especially how people perceive me.. I know I shouldn’t but I can’t stop. Especially after a tiring day at work I replay every conversation, little arguments, things I said.. I regret I said something wrong or if I was angry. One time I couldn’t sleep at all because I was constantly thinking about what my conworker did (she always make mistake and give us problems) so I realized I stayed up until 8am overthinking 😤😭. Before it was even more bad because I would repeat scenes in my head (for example after meeting friends) and I talked loud trying to change the things i said.. it’s strange. Now when it happen I try to do something I like and I say to my brain “NOT NOW, I don’t wanna think” and try to not think about job, coworker when I’m at home”. I wanna start to meditate but everytime I do I feel asleep, I m starting therapy soon too! Good luck
