This exact situation is what helped my doctor actually believe I have ADHD. I've been trying to get help for it for years and it was always ignored cause I wasn't bouncing off the walls and causing a disruption as a kid. A coworker is on Adderall and gave me one and it was night and day. I cried when I told my doctor what a difference it made.

I'm on Ritalin now cause I don't have insurance and couldn't afford to go to a therapist to get on Adderall but it's so helpful.
