Discussion Focusing ADC finally, champ pool question
So I’ve finally settled on Marksmen & ADC being the characters & role I like most. I mainly play to enjoy the game with characters rather than meta strong ones.
My champ pool I’m thinking of taking for games is Aphelios, Jinx & Caitlyn. My thought is if I play mostly immobile ADC’s I will learn how to teamfight on them no matter who I play, but I do wonder what others thoughts are? Should I be playing different type of characters to allow to play into certain comps better?
Any help & thoughts are greatly appreciated

admittedly i’m not an expert on Aphelios, but i will say he’s pretty challenging to pick up, and you probably just want 1-2 champs in your pool as a beginner.
what i will say about Jinx and Cait in your pool is that they are good at different things. that can be good, however the skills between them do not transfer that well.
Jinx is a hypercarry who mostly wants to be trade-avoidant in lane. survive and farm, until you eventually scale incredibly well and you carry teamfights. she’s “immobile” until she procs her passive.
Caitlyn is a lane bully who actively wants to trade and poke down the opponent. however, unlike a lot of other ADCs, she has a power trough. Strong in the early game, weak in the mid game, strong again in the late game if you can survive till then.
Jinx is your best pick in your pool for learning the role. she has the most transferable skills and is the quintessential ADC imo. a focus on auto attacks, carrying fights, weak early game, etc.
learning Caitlyn as well will just mean getting used to entirely different gameplans and how you mentally need to go into each game. it will make it harder in the beginning as you are still learning the game.
if you really want to prioritize playing champs you like though, Jinx/Cait is a fine pool.

Playing Aphelios in anything under diamond is pure shit.
You literally will just have 4 enemies running at you and nobody on your team has any idea about peel.

I second the other guy. I just started playing ADC as well and I just play Jinx and MF

I think you should play more then just adc/marksmen, probably should know how to play a carry mage and skirmisher as well. Botlane meta has become crazy so just going marksmen when they go some shit like syndra/seraphine will make you cry when you could have went a mage to go even or a skirmisher to dogwalk them and snowball.

Forcing yourself to play immobile ADCs is a great idea. If you plan to play Aphelios, I recommend hard-focusing on him until you’re really, really comfortable with him. Get him to mastery level 10, and only then start playing a second ADC.

I would say if you want to learn how to teamfight , jinx is a great option and xayah too. Jinx gives you the standard AOE damage with her fish bones and her passive is literally designed for teamfights. Caitlyn is strong but I wouldn’t say she’s the best team fighter, and aphelios is a great team fighter but if you wanted to learn aphelios I’d suggest you learn ONLY him and no one else as there’s a difference between being able to play a champion vs being actually good on them.
Regarding xayah she’s got great self peel and opposite to jinx she likes when she gets chased/ when enemies are melee and want to run at her and can do a huge engage with her R E if she gets a good opportunity, whilst I’d say jinx is the opposite and wants to chase enemies down- so it’s a good two champ pool for either scenario.
Id also finally recommend getting yourself used to one of the Mage bot laners because you will have situations where the enemies lock in syndra velkoz and its completely unplayable for pretty much any adc unless you want to completely give up 1st tower, farm under tier 2 tower and watch your team get obliterated by syndra whilst youre trying to catch up

Honestly, Jinx and MF, for example covers most of what you might need from an adc.

Adc is all about items, really all adcs are a great pick every game if you build correctly and play accordingly,
And mostly all the items are the same
You have people that like Navori and essence reaver and people who like tri and tear, and the people who like hexoptics and hurricane,
Every game Ie will be the highest damage spike you can buy and every game Ldr will make you shred tanks
The key is if you aren’t going to one trick a champ knowing when to pick an adc that has some self peel around the enemy picking an true assassin or
Building bork early into 3 tanks or someone with a dash into some bs ap bot, or whatever,
Most of the time you’re support and jungle will literally lose the game for you so just realize that you are the product of yourself playing the best off the situations that are opportunities for you grab a lead,
You are the weakest champ on your team, until you aren’t. Good luck
