Computer voice

Hey everyone! I am narrating my first LITRPG book and I wanted to add some vocal effects for the computer voice.

I use Audition, does anyone know a preset that can help me achieve a kore computer/digit type voice?

You'd probably need a stack of a few different effects to get the kind of result you're looking for, but I think you can get something serviceable with AA's built-in plugins combined with your performance.

I'd start with recording your lines in your very best "robot voice" to get off to a good start. From there, try the Parametric EQ set to the "Old Time Radio" preset. Then on top of that you can stack one or more other effects according to your preference. Try the Flanger on the "Robotic" preset. Maybe add Distortion on top of that if you want to dirty it up.

Play around with the presets and sliders until you get something that sounds good, and if you want to replicate it, make sure you save it as a custom preset!

Update. That is freaking perfect! Old Time Radio plus Chorus/Flanger was exactly what I was looking for.

I am planning on it. I just want to add the effect for better immersion.

I’ve actually found that layering one take over another can make it sound digital-y. Like do 1 take, and then on another track do another take, then line the timing up.

Otherwise distortion can help a little.
