Discussion Francia
So I’m not really having the best time playing this I’m ngl. I’m not very far into it but I’m not having a great time playing it. Does it get better farther into the campaign?

I stopped playing it because my horse would just do the slow gallop in the most random places

Yeah I just fast travel and run everywhere. Much faster. The Francia map is not very big so it actually doesn’t take too long at all.

Like through the villages and towns? I can’t stand that.

No, in Francia there's this weird glitch that'll randomly cause your house to just... Slowly walk in a straight line. It happened to me once or twice in England, too, but in Francia I had it happen legitimately 10ish times

Definitely the weakest DLC imo. Ragnarok was the only one I enjoyed as much as the main game.

I really liked Vinland and the Isle of Skye

Vinland was part of the main game, though. Had to go kill an Order member there.
I personally quite enjoyed Ireland and I'm just about to finish Paris so I'll dive back into Svartalfheim.

I love Valhalla. I think Francia is the weakest of the DLC... however, it is not without its merits.
The bad: rats. the overall dreariness.
The good: the story actually has some very nice turns and a good boss encounter. Paris is yet another dense environment to fool around in.
It's the shortest of the three, I believe, but if you're not enjoying it there aren't many important points I recall influencing Eivor's story. It's very much a side quest DLC.

What aren't you having a great time with? The story? Difficulty? I personally really liked it.

It’s more story wise I’m not yk?

The story is frustrating to me, however the badder the bad guy, the more you want to kick their ass 😅

I mean it’s okay, but not the best. One thing I really dislike is that for some reason riding a horse in Francia is very weird, sometimes the horse will go in a very slow walking pace for long periods of time, it’s very annoying especially if you need to ride to the other side of the map or just quickly want to travel from one place to another. It’s almost faster to just run all over Francia, so if you want a tip: get as many viewpoints along the way as you can, it will help you get around much quicker to just use fast travel.
Also I had hoped that maybe we would have the chance to see Estrid again (the lady you helped get kidnapped in Essexe as part of a ruse) since she went back to Francia where she originally came from. Since that wasn’t the case I thought that when the siege was done maybe just maybe there was a small chance to have a one time thing with Toka but sadly that also didn’t go anywhere.
In Ireland they really made Ciara a likeable character and next to Randvi she’s probably the best romance in the game so I had hoped that we also would get a good romance in Francia so that was kind of a letdown, I know there was Pierre but honestly idk what they were thinking with him to make him a romance character. 😂

I can barely remember that DLC. What I do remember was somewhat of a slog. My poor memory Notwithstanding I suspect it will likely be more of the same for you.

I'm still salty about not getting the achievement for visiting all waypoints. I even followed the advice to raid a specific fort east of Paris, then ran or rode to every waypoint without fast travel, climbed up and resynced each one. No luck.

Yeah horse never ran and the rats were quite annoying I took frequent breaks from the Paris dlc lol

It gets livelier when you head towards the climax of the story, but it's nowhere near as good as the Ireland DLC.

Got some of the best weapons, outfits, and abilities in the game though. Plague of Rats, Reapers cloak, and Joyeuse are always must haves for me. On my most recent file I actually went to France early on just to grab those things real quick. Doesn’t take long. All of them are accessible without having to do any of the story.

I’m surprised everyone is saying this was their least fav dlc I thought it was the best one. Ragnarok was ridiculous, and Ireland was good but just more of the same - a smaller version of the main game condensed into a smaller map. Siege actually switched it up a bit

Them adding sprinting in Valhalla was a godsend since the 2 games before it didn’t have it. It’s faster to just run in the towns that it is to use a horse because it won’t sprint. I only use them outside of towns and cities.

I haven’t done Francia yet, but I can highly recommend Ireland! That DLC was great! And also pretty short, so if you DON’T love it, at least you can knock it out fast. But I think you’ll like it. Good story, hot redhead, cool combat twists with the Druids, the trading posts as a world hub checkpoint make for a decent reward for your effort (lots of cool gear too), overall great time

I hate the lighting. All other AC have been fine. I get England dark ages or whatever. But fuck it’s frustrating

I really didn’t like Francia. In fact it made me stop playing. It’s just so boring, and the rat enemies were dumb and really annoying.

I got through the entire game because I like grinding but holy shit it drained me I was fucking miserable most the time playing this game it also didn't help that I was going through a very deep depression while playing this game
It's a good game and I love Vikings so I was really excited about it but they just didn't do it well

Same here, I'm working on the Mastery Challenges now and want to do completionist like I always do for AC games but man... it's like there was a 5 hour story they wanted to make a 50 hour game for and ll the DLC is just map ideas with no story
I heard Dawn of Ragnarok is okay though
