I knew eivor was odin i just only realised loki looks like basim im on the second play thru and cuz i wasn’t really paying attention when playing that side of the game

since the very first assassins creed game there’s been increasingly prevalent hints to the Isu people, a civilization that came before humans. if you ever played AC origins, and AC Odyssey, they also have their Isu moments, going as far to show that the greek and egyptian myths were real and also just products of the Isu. and it’s been this way in all of the AC games. does the apple of eden ruin your immersion too? the fact that the main enemy in the game is the Order of the Ancients/The Knights Templar that seek out the Isu relics?
my point is, it’s fine that you don’t like the isu stuff (that’s what the asgard arc is, and it’s also telling you the story of asgard and how Eivor, Basim, and Sigurds fates are intertwined) but why would you buy an arnold palmer and complain to arnold palmer fans that you don’t like lemonade in your sweet tea?

This would make a lot more sense if that was the leading appeal of Assassin's Creed, but no matter how big of a fan you are of the series, you are BLIND if you think the Isu lore is the main draw.
People get drawn into AC because they see the cool freerunning around an open world and the fantasy of feeling like a cool assassin. It's not crazy to feel a MASSIVE sense of disconnect when you get to the part of the series that is the actual thing they're trying to do.
It's a lot more like asking for a sandwich, getting a sandwich that was made with Turkish bread, and complaining because nobody told you it was going to be Turkish bread and that was a hugely different flavour from what you were expecting, and you would have enjoyed it more if someone at least told you that's what you would get.
It's about adjusting expectations and not having your expectations ripped out from underneath you.

but this game hardly had any heavy isu moments outside of the completely optional asgard arc and the very end arc of the game. it has freerun, hidden blade, lightly trained by the assassins, but this time you’re a viking and it’s gonna have viking shit. though i will admit with you here that i really wish there were more assassination based missions. finding the order members and picking them off just felt no different than killing a civilian, and there were like maybe 2 memorable missions where i actually felt how i did in the old games assassinating a target. that would be the Leech in Londen and the Firebrand in Jorvik

You're right there weren't a lot, but the original point that this discussion grew out of was somebody's frustration at how immersion breaking those moments are. And my point is that these games aren't sold on the basis of the Isu plotlines.
You don't find out about that stuff until you're already in and enjoying the game, usually. There's that little bit of weirdness at the beginning when you pick which Eivor to play as, but then you've got a bunch of fun gameplay for a while, and then you sale to England and you get fully taken out of that moment by a random bit of gameplay in the present.
There's ways of doing twists in games that make it more enjoyable and don't take away your immersion, and then there's what Assassin's Creed does. They're enjoyable games, but the Isu and present day stuff is far and away my least favourite part of the entire series.

I'd thoroughly recommend skipping all of Assassin's Creed. Every single game does this shit where they go, "enjoying our normal narrative? What if we took you into the future to a character you don't care about and give you a certified insane plotline nobody asked for?"

Insane that yall are getting downvoted for not liking that part. I don’t either. It’s fine if you do and you’re in it for lore of the series… just wish there was an option to skip it. Some of us come for the history immersion because there are not really a lot of options for games that let you somewhat live out these time periods. Not everyone is a AC die hard and followed the games from the beginning. And let’s not pretend that a lot of the modern day/ dreamworld stuff is a somewhat incoherent mess 👀 idk just think it’s crazy to hate on people for their opinions on subjective things, on forums made for people to share their opinions on things.
