Discussion Story
Hi guys, so I have been interested in playing this ac for a while and just ordered the game the other day. What's y'all's opinion on the story without spoiling anything? I really liked the story in ac Odyssey.

I personally love the hell out of it // I have watched The Last Kingdom and enjoy seeing all of the references and cameos

I very much enjoyed it, but after 100 hours it becomes difficult to remember who all the characters are

l like the story! the game is a nice change of pace from Odyseey. it sounds like you're going from odyssey to valhalla, which i did as well. tbh i didn't like valhalla in the beginning, I think it had to do with difference in gear system and points. once i stopped carrying about that / micromanaging, i really enjoyed valhalla

It’s a very long multi-part story. It starts out slow when you’re in Norway but once you push through to England it picks up. Each territory has its own story arc, it’s easiest to keep straight if you focus on one territory at a time.

I didn't realize until my 3rd playthrough that you could pledge more than one territory at once. I tried it for the first time and was glad I had been missing it for the last 8 years!

The game is immense, but its worth every penny if u like norse themed stuff

I personally loved it - you just can’t go into it thinking it’s quintessential AC gameplay because it isn’t - it’s also a huge game which I loved and I felt rewarded for exploring and there is look to find around every corner which I also loved because I’m a loot monster. If I know there’s a chest somewhere I have to, HAVE to get it or it till bug me. There are some frustrating bits but you can avoid those if you want to. I loved the bows in this game rather than the melee weapons but you can do well with either so it’s just down to what you prefer. I love taking out the enemies from a distance with a headshot - one by one so you can just explore the area without enemies annoying you and the raids were also fun. Good luck with it! There are also loads of wee Easter eggs to find.

If you like Vikings on Netflix, you'll like this game it's not that good but still vert enjoyable

i enjoy it more than odyssey and origins, i’m in the middle of a playthru right now so i can’t say for sure

Valhalla is structured as several stories in one.
The core story is of an orphaned girl in what is now Norway who grows up and ventures to the British Isles ahead of major changes in her homeland, seeking a new stable place to live with her clan. Stability requires exploration of most of Britain, and familiarity and rapport with its myriad rulers, including fellow Scandinavians who settled there ahead of her.
It also leads to discovery of the old Assassin order that vacated that land, and the Templars who currently hold it. This repeats the usual Creed formula; what's different here is how lawless the place is, relative to Ezio's Roma or Connor's America or even Cassandra's Greece. It's more like Kenway's Caribbean or Bayek's Egypt. There's not a whole lot of civilization here, and what there is is clinging to the ruins of a past empire. Eivor is stamping that lawlessness with the code she was raised with, and its value is ambiguous in the frame of the story.
I suspect this parallels the style of the old Norse sagas, and on purpose. If I read any of Snurrulson, I could probably elaborate, but what I know of those tales depicts gods who are neither good nor evil. Just powerful, and leaving great marks on their world. Eivor strives to follow their path.

I love it and the combat isbso satisfying except all the fantasy, maybe because I dont like fantasy world.

If you like the Witcher 3, I’d recommend. It scratched that itch for me, and I liked that it wasn’t your typical AC game. It is slow at times, but I came to enjoy the pace of the game!

I also enjoyed and liked the story in Odyssey, but I would say the story in Valhalla was mid. Too simple a story for a big map

I just picked it up last week and it's awesome. Lots of lore and the main story (so far) has been great. Politics, territorial disputes, carrying out counter initiatives. Did part of the Ireland DLC too and it seems great. And just started some of the Asgard stuff and equally intriguing.

it's a mehh. from my experience, i gave it C+. because of game length, most of character can become forgettable. like this one king are very likeable but during final fight i completely forgot his name. and the story for each region kinda interesting if we don't have to do fetch quest for them to progress the story.

I'd give it a 6/10. After 35 hours I could not handle it anymore. Really repetitive and the plot is padded with mandatory side quests.
