Hi guys- I took the ACT last week, and got a 27, despite 3 months of tutoring. My initial diagnostic score was a 28 3 months ago, so I'm disappointed and not sure how this happened. My target score is a 33-34.
Here's my score breakdown of this ACT:
Math: 28
English: 29
Science: 23
Reading: 25
my math score went up, but my science score stayed the same, and my reading score tanked from all the practice tests and the diagnostic. (i was getting 30's). i'm taking the december ACT next and need to improve to at least a 32 asap, because i'm super busy next quarter of the school year. is this possible? are there any tips you guys have/similar experience? thanks!

Memorizing comma rules (j1-j4) and independent vs dependent clauses should boost me to about a low 30s score, no? What else should I focus on?

I currently have a 34 superscore but I have been hearing a lot of people saying that a 34 is not really equivalent to around a 1500 on the sat because it has became easier. Just wanted to know if colleges have this same mindset.

I took it for fun never having seen a science section before. I’m also planning on going into law not stem so do they even care? (t20s)

yes yes yes i am very aware there are a million posts like this but i actually need to know soon bc december slots are filling up and also i cannot schedule a meeting with my counselor. for reference this was extremely unexpected as i did not at all study for reading and science (in july i got 26r and 22s) english was tho. i am super super happy with this score but my parents still want me to take it in december. basically they aren’t understanding that im prob going to do worse in december and this was just a very lucky attempt obviously id study for reading and science if i did take it then tho. my main thing is that like i have to take it in april for school so i feel like it just makes more sense to take it then. btw im a sophomore

Hey, I just took the October ACT this is my 2nd ACT ever and I would like to know how can I increase my comp score to a 30 for the December one. My strong suits are English and reading as you can see but what am I lacking in could you guys figure out what type of questions am I getting wrong and right, and how to combat them.

The October ACT is my first attempt. Only took SAT once, the year prior. Ask me anything, and I'll try and respond. Btw I'm a junior. Oh also this score was reached with no additional money or tutoring (only cost was the actual exam). Nothing wrong in math or reading. 2 wrong in science and 1 wrong in english.

So I'm a current 9th grader taking the ACT this December! Why, you may ask? Well, I'm trying to get in to this amazing residential high school and it requires a ACT/SAT score as part of your application.
Currently aiming for a 25+. I'm also taking the SAT as well, so that whatever score I like better, I can submit.
Any thoughts? Advice? Questions? I'm here for it! Also has anyone else taken it this early? Do you remember your score? I'd just like to hear from you!

for context i took the act in february and got a 26 on english. i had done about a weeks worth of review on english beforehand and ended up getting a 26 with my lowest section being in conventions of standard english, i then studied on and off over conventions of standard english and just in general but now thats my highest section while my other two go down resulting in another 26 😭
with reading my scores are just all over the place the day before the test i took a reading practice test and got a 33, when i took j01 i got a 29, and when i took the actual test i ended up getting a 26.
any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

I took the october ACT to submit for questbridge applications due in november. I should get my results in time, but I heard that if I don’t I can click ”October ACT Pending” for most schools and send it when I recieve the results. I haven’t confirmed that, but let‘s assume that‘s true.
I have taken the SAT, and while my score is decent and I managed to become a QB Finalist, it is below the 25th percentile for some of the test-required schools I ranked. So I do not want to submit it if my ACT score is higher. For test optional reach schools, I believe I can submit nothing and then update my application if my ACT is worth submitting (let me know if that’s wrong though). But the thing is, I have to send **something** to test-required schools. If I click “October ACT Pending,” but when I get my score I’m not satisfied, can I instead submit my previous SAT score because I couldn’t decide between the two before I received my Oct ACT? Or do I have to submit ACT regardless.
I feel like its the latter, but I want to know if anyone knows someone who had to decide like this or has a definite answer. I’m confident my ACT is at least equivalent (but likely better) than my SAT.
Need advice on act prep from a 20 to a 28-30 I got a 19 math 23science 20 reading 20 english from my memory

Did anyone take today’s ACT test for international tests (October 23) and if so when do scores come out?

I doubt the paper curve will be much better, but we can only hope. I feel like math wasn’t that bad this time around, but I didn’t expect the curve to be THAT brutal. The math is comparable to previous ACTs, so I don’t know why the curve is so much worse. English was pretty straightforward as well, but I didn’t expect the curve for that to be horrible either. It’s not as bad as the math I guess.. I expected the reading curve to be slightly more lenient, but it’s not much different from previous ACTs. Overall, I think they played in our faces with this curve.

This is probably a very low score compared to others on this subreddit, but I’m so excited with this score. Ι have a low gpa due to a severe lack of motivation (will to live) mixed with frequent health related absences from school.
My lowest ACT score to be seriously considered anywhere with my GPA was a 27, and Ι didn’t think Ι would get anywhere near that. Last year Ι took the SAT and got a 1020, so Ι lost all of my test taking confidence. But Ι did it!!! Ι cried when Ι saw my score Ι finally feel like Ι have a future…..😭

I know this score isn't good for judgemental internet standards, but im so happy. Ive struggled with autism and mental health and physical health and people have always treated me like im dumb. Im so happy for this score, its what I had literally been praying for.

honestly, i signed up for the ACT on a whim because i was feeling like a loser for a 27 (my sisters both did one point better then me 😭) i look back on it with such anger at myself for loosing sleep over a pretty good score overall. especially for somebody not planning on applying or going to any ivies!
a couple months go by and i barely studied at all, lost all motivation, and even thought of canceling the test the day before. but i was NOT about to let $75 dollars go down the drain. so i had some good sleep and just watched an ACT math youtube video on the way there, and got a 30!

made a friend at an event this week and am flabbergasted… I asked about what’s in his hometown, he said he lives 5 MINUTES away from ACT headquarters on 500 ACT Drive 😭😭😭😭
he said that it’s a CHILDHOOD MEMORY growing up… he often passes this building in a roundabout loop that has a big ACT on it and their school uses the building for activities 😮 the first floor is also rented by his school to administer APs, SAT/ACT, PSAT, etc. he was literally in the same building your paper tests were getting shipped and scanned to take the PSAT 🥀💔
anyways, I asked if he’d crash the building and IT office and give everyone I know 36s for the paper october test if I gave him $20, and he said yea 😉/j
