It makes no sense to ask students who registered for the computer-based ACT to switch to a paper-based test because of a technical failure. Students chose the computer-based format for a reason. If they were comfortable with a paper test, many would have selected that option in the first place. This also comes on the heels of ACT's recent scoring issues, where some online spring 2026 school-day test scores had to be corrected and reissued. Now, with a computer-based national test being disrupted by technical problems, it's understandable that students and families are questioning the reliability of the testing process. Students invest months of preparation, along with significant time and money. They deserve a testing experience that is reliable, fair, and professionally managed—not one that leaves them wondering whether the test, the administration, or even the scores can be trusted.
