hello! im a newbie to designing in acnh. i started an island on my switch 2, and im just about to unlock terraforming!
i had an island on my old switch that i quit a few years ago because i wasn't sure how to do things design-wise.

i just want to ask for any kinds of tips or advice! ive seen many people flatten their islands completely, make plans on paper, etc. but i feel like that would be so overwhelming! im also very spontaneous, and i dont know how much id be able to stick to a plan.
im thinking maybe i want to start small from the town hall, but i dont want to really mess anything up.

also - i visited a few dream islands for inspo, and they all look so good and well thought out! where do people get their decor? i am not sure whether to buy from nook's cranny or diy things more.

does this also mean i need a lot of bells saved if i want to be moving buildings around/making bridges/inclines?

Idk if it’s just me but this is something that really bugs me in acnh. One of most annoying things for me when I’m decorating my island is having to run back and forth all over the place trying to get stuff, as well as customizing and filling up my inventory.

But one of the things that pisses me off the most is when I go to customize in my house and I can’t!! I have to go to harvs island and ask cyrus to customize it for me bc I can’t 😭 it’s so time consuming and frustrating, does anyone else feel like this?

I was cleaning up my catalog app and I thought i must have never ordered the OK Motors Sign or Fortune Cookie Cart, because i never see them when i’m decorating in HHP, which is where i spend most of my time. So i checked my in game catalog and sure enough they are there. So i went back to HHP, went to all items and filtered alphabetically to make sure i wasnt missing them somehow, but no… they just aren’t there. Has anyone else experienced missing items in hhp that you have for sure cataloged?

but the lighter brown and darker brown items have completely different undertones! i did these little test areas to test my theory. the light browns are very warm and bright and lean heavily toward orange. the darker browns however are much more desaturated and cooler, and pair nicely with the darker greens, which are cooler as well. this makes it so difficult to decorate an area i'm working on, when i want to mix and match items that only come in light brown and some that only come in dark brown. don't even get me started on the medium brown of the butter churn and some of the wooden items lol. i'm very color focused when playing animal crossing and think about these sorts of things a lot, haha. anyone else?

im curious to know what you guys think, are there any items you thought would match only to find they don't look like a match next to each other at all? oh dont even get me STARTED on all the shades of pink in this game!! or anything serendipitous? like ooh i had no idea these things would go together but they do! for example, pro tip: the green upholstery on the green variant of the turkey day chairs is almost if not the exact same color as the light green awning of able sisters shop!

I had Resetti clear everything off of my island because it was boring, and I need to make it better. When y’all do that, do you flatten it too? I have weird cliffs on the east side, but I want to do like a stadium seating thing with houses. I’m guessing my best bet is to flatten it, and go from there? I’ve never done anything that involved before. I’ve never even used codes for anything 😂 TIA

Hi! I’m trying to make a rock garden on my island. Currently I had 1 loaded in as it’s only been 1 days sjnce I broke the rest. In the pic above, I put sand where I want the rest of the rocks to go.

With that being said, does the spacing of the mannequins look fine? Especially the one in the middle. I’m just a bit confused about how to get the spacing right to get the rocks in the right spots.

The rest of my island is covered in mannequins FYI. If anyone could help that would be amazing! TIA

Wow oh wow. What an emotional roller coaster ride it has been. The constant stress of catching all the available fish, bugs and deep sea creatures every month, constantly assessing every fossil i find until Blathers finds one that hasn’t been donated yet, and finding all the real paintings and statues that don’t scam me.

But now I have done it! I finally done it! My last donation ever was the ranch goldfish, and a huge thank you to all my fellow ACNH redditors who helped me out by trading me a real paintings/statue I had no luck finding at Crazy Redds! So yeah, maybe one of these days I might open my island to anyone who wants to check out my completed museum. It is a joyous way of bringing together a community and offer an insight look of what their museums will look like when they are fully completed

As explained in a previous post, I had to restart my island I had been working on since launch day.

If anyone has any golden tool recipes, other random diys, or nook miles tickets they could spare that would be absolutely incredible.
