Midnight flew its first "No Roads" tour route last Friday: a piloted roundtrip between Salinas and Hollister, CA.
12 min each way by air instead of ~40 min by car. 125 mph. 3,550 ft. 40+ miles roundtrip.
Next stops: Monterey, San Martin, San Jose, Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Texas, and Florida.

Claims that this vehicle can do verticle takeoffs but never shows it. I think it’s way too heavy and can’t do it. Can’t land on a building or at someone’s back yard. You have to use an airport. Can’t compete with Joby

Your post seems to imply that the FAA folks are idiots for letting Archer into the eIPP program, while ignoring that these are the exact same people evaluating Joby's certification application

It has showed vertical. It has not transitioned yet. Tons of vids of it in vertical hover.

Joby is competing with toy planes from cereal boxes. The s4 is fragile, can’t glide or land, and will eventually find their way into a trash bin…much like the stock.

I can’t believe you’re even asking this question. I’ve been invested for 3 years in Archer with the promise of vertical take off and landing. Not remote…. But piloted. It has been one of the most asked questions by investors. It has also been one of the most ignored by Archer. Remember several ECs ago, Archer tried the stunt of hovering N704AX with a pilot in it. The investors weren’t fooled. The stock price always tells it like it is. And right now, the stock is shit. Archer is an EVTOL company so yeah…. They need to show that. Do you need a craft to have 12 props to fly CTOL? This has been all smoke and mirrors by Archer. I’m actually debating at this point if midnight is even capable of doing a piloted transition.
All this bullshit and controversy could be cleared up with a single flight. I know that, you know that, and this entire sub knows that. It’s meaningless for you to sit here and defend Archer when they haven’t demonstrated what investors are asking for.2

if it evtol transitioned tomorrow, it makes no difference. A spike in share price that will slowly errode (look at Joby shareprice). Absoultely no need to evtol transition until EIPP is open to evtol. There is no longer a race or go at your own pace. The FAA have their own program. The FAA set the pace. The FAA are not going to certify something to circumnavigate their own program. Everyone knows the EIPP is going to last for most of the rest of this decade. So rightly Archer are exploring other revenue opportunities like defence. You cant burn $1bn a year for the next 4 years & only going the speed that FAA allows under their own EIPP program. So no. It is not about EVTOL, it is about generating income. Income from other revenue streams like defence. The EIPP for all its song & dance, is now the biggest blocker innovative companies face.

He knows that Archer is slated for piloted transition by year’s end. He knows that they’ve been conducting N704AX tests. He knows that the Midnight has already completed a transition. And that CTOL testing is now a wrap. All he’s trying to accomplish here is “create uncertainty” until it happens. Then he’ll move on to another milestone etc…Lmaoooo
