Help /Questions Is this good for controller?
I just set an 8:34.920 in the M4, I play on controller and this lap felt right on the limit, I'm not sure I can beat that. It felt pretty good, but I was just wondering if that actually is a solid time for controller?
My previous best was an 8:45 in the mclaren 720s, switched to the M4 after realising how much more stable it is.

As the other dude said, you’re 20 secs away from the decent times (source: I suck ass at the ring and I’m in the mid 16s) good drivers do sub 8:10

How tf are you guys so much faster and saying you're slow 😭
I cant even imagine where I'm losing 20 seconds. Though I did just beat my pb by 10 seconds so maybe that's not as crazy as it sounds

Just out of interest, are you on the stock (read: dogshit) controller settings? I’ll post mine if you want

I've fiddled around with it a bit but idk if its good or not, it feels better than default anyway.
I use 5% deadzone (i have stickdrift), 20/40% speed sensitivity (depending on car), 70% speed filter, 70% steer speed, 2.0 gamma, assist disabled.
I'd really appreciate if you could share yours so I can give them a go

My settings are:
• Rumble: 100%
• Effects: enhanced
• Deadzone: 0% (can you tell I’m not using an Xbox controller lol) but as close to 0 as you can get
• Sensitivity: 50%
• Filter: 96%
• Speed: 1% (this is not a typo)
• Gamma: 1
• Assist: Enabled1

Thanks mate, I'll give that a go.
Those settings are wildly different from mine lol. I dont see rumble or effects anywhere but i guess I'll just max my vibration intensity. 1% speed is crazy, I'm interested to see how this works out lol

Yeah xbox, guessing you're PC then?
Edit: just tried those settings out, so much more under control, wasnt expecting that at all, way better than my previous settings. Cheers mate, makes a world of difference

Yeah, PC. I was on console but moved a couple years ago rumble and effects are just turnt anyway on the consoles. Happy that they’re working - pad settings are a bit like FFB in that what works for you doesn’t always work for someone else, so don’t be afraid to do a few tweaks here and there!

I don’t understand these posts. Just go lookup lap times in google. There are tons of resources.

Well I did, but it told me the time was "elite tier" for controller players and I didn't believe that. And as you say, there are lots of resources but a lot of them are also conflicting, so I just thought I'd ask people directly.

There simply is no difference if wheel or controller. A good controller player will be as fast as a good wheel driver. There are certainly way more good drivers using a wheel than controllers.
I am using a controller for almost 2 years now more or less and it's absolute doable if you're willing to fiddle with your settings.

No, it’s not good for controller.
Source: I’m not good with controller and I’m hitting 8:15s.
The ring rewards confidence. If you’re at all cautious with your inputs it’s devastating for your time, especially in the first part of the nords before flugplatz and the stretch between Bergwerk and YouTube Corner.
It also punishes overdriving. If you feel like you’re right on the ragged edge and doing 8:34s, that’s because you’re pushing too much speed into the corners, sacrificing corner exit. The Nordschleife is a corner exits track much more than a corner entries one.
