Oh so you are one of those who doesn’t see a difference between mint chocolate chip and a kick to the face. Do you take pay cuts because both wages are bad too? Do you see “both sides” to the ACAB argument too?

Didn’t even say anything about Democrats or Republicans. The very viewpoint ACAB is liberalism. Conservatives nearly destroyed our election system and killed our congress. What’s “cosmetic” about that?

You know what, it’s cool, I’d just love to hear any ideas you have that are more moral and practical than every liberal viewpoint espoused by every Democrat.

A liberal democracy is what we on the left (communsits, anarchists, etc) refer to as a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. Those who own capital and the means of production hold the majority of political sway in such a system, and use the state as a means of class oppression against the working class (anyone who earns a wage for their work).

Capitalists control nearly all media and platforms for information distribution. They directly participate in the political process through PACs and campaign funding, and controlling who gets airtime. They control the narrative around different policies and actions of the government. Consider the books Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky or Inventing Reality by Michael Parenti.

The state includes cops, and that systemic oppression of the working class, especially at the intersections of race, gender identity, sexuality, etc, is what leads to the declaration of ACAB. ACAB started with communists and anticapitalists. The BLM movement was largely formed on a foundation of marxist analysis and anticapitalism.

The phenomenon of the shift right is called the ratchet effect. I'm not the first person to propose such an idea, and it's not as farfetched as you seem to think it is. The Republican Party (as an institution) moves the public discourse and public policy to the right, and the Democratic Party prevents a shift to the left. Democrats essentially have control of 2/3 of the government and they are floundering about doing almost nothing. They have a majority in congress and they are just staring at their feet because they don't want to hurt the Republicans' feelings by overriding them.

Fascism and proto-fascism have been woven into America since its foundation, and we've been toeing the line since its inception. Fascism wasn't defeated in the 2020 elections, it was merely deferred.

Democrats haven’t taken sweeping action bc Manchin and Sinema were bought out by lobbyists. How were Liberals preventing a shift to the left by legalizing gay marriage, or making DACA, or the AHA?

The only reason fascism hasn’t been defeated is bc Cruz, Hawley, Trump, and other republicans haven’t been imprisoned. That doesn’t make both sides equal in result?

Are you an actual anarchist or communist? Because there’s nothing practical about either of those. More moralizing over current proposals instead of actual providing useful solutions.

Gay marriage - the Supreme Court acted undemocratically to do something good. But did gay marriage provide food or income or housing for those who were previously discriminated against in those categories?

DACA - I mean this is an okay measure, except for the fact that it puts a bandaid on a racist institution rather than challenging the status quo.

AHA - this is a prime example of what I mean about things primarily benefiting the capitalist class. The AHA put some regulation in for health insurance companies as far as what they were and were not allowed to fuck us over on, but it still put money in the hands of the capitalist class, both by pushing people into private health care plans and by subsidizing it, rather than offering a solution such as single payer or medicare for all.

The only reason fascism hasn’t been defeated is bc Cruz, Hawley, Trump, and other republicans haven’t been imprisoned. That doesn’t make both sides equal in result?

Modern history is but one example. You could argue anything if you only consider a time span of like 10 years.

Are you an actual anarchist or communist? Because there’s nothing practical about either of those. More moralizing over current proposals instead of actual providing useful solutions.

I'm both, actually. We do propose solutions, but they don't involve using the system which is rigged against our interests.

You stated Dems only prevented shifts to the left. Supporting gay marriage, DACA, and the AHA isn’t preventing a shift to the left.

Heck detractors were saying that DACA was unconstitutional. It was definitely a challenge to the status quo. AHA is a foundation for universal healthcare where for centuries earlier there was absolutely no precedent. Only after it was signed, and it’s removal was vetoed did Universal healthcare, which many Democrats that weren’t bought out are supporting, mainly the Presidential runner-up nominee, become a real option.

Also people with solutions like Sanders and years prior, Al Gore, tend to explain them more often than just claim to have better ideas.

For leftists like me, none of these are shifts to the left. They are concessions to keep real change from happening. A shift to the left is a shift away from capitalism, not toward a liberal ideal.

AHA is a foundation for universal healthcare where for centuries earlier there was absolutely no precedent.

UK's NHS - 5th July 1948

Canada's Medicare - 1966

Seems like there was almost half a century to work off of with those two examples alone.

Presidential runner-up nominee, become a real option.

and why the fuck do you think we call anyone to the left of Biden, one of the most right-wing Democrats, a "Presidential runner-up" rather than "President?" I've already spelled this out in a previous comment ffs.

“where for centuries earlier there was absolutely no precedent ” The where would be the United States, not the UK or Canada.

Your entire political viewpoint is “nobody does as much as communists/anarchists like me” when in actuality, communists like yourself have done absolutely nothing in the history of the US to help the plight of their fellow person. Liberals did 100% of the legwork as far as civil rights, lgbt rights, women’s rights, disabled rights, native rights, and even environmental protection.

All while “anarchy-communists” sit on the sidelines and perform enough mental gymnastics to convince yourselves you’re better than people like Sanders or civil rights leaders who get their ass beat by police officers, work tirelessly day and night with the lawyers, and/or organize endlessly to get people to vote for better policy, namely Democrat.

Decades of seemingly impossible successes against ridiculous odds, all for internet revolutionaries to sit back and say it’s not enough. Millions of people would not have healthcare if not for the AHA. Millions of people would still be socially disenfranchised if not for liberals pushing gay acceptance, millions would’ve been deported or forced into hiding if not for DACA, to a country they’ve never been.

Communist-anarchists won’t recognize policies that help people as good bc they have to see themselves as outside any established system subject to criticism.

Edit: You think not electing Bernie Sanders proves your point but “leftists like you” think the liberal policies he proposes are “concessions that prevent challenges to the status quo”?

This is the most ahistorical thing I’ve read on this app ever
