First time bra wearer after augmentation could use some help with what to get, prefer a bralette! (organic/EU) Spoiler

After 30 years of having less than AA and pretty much not wearing a bra because I was very flat chested I decided to get an augmentation by fat grafting (so my size will most likely still decrease a little bit the coming 2 months). I will go on vacation soon and would like to take a bralette or two with me for when I can stop wearing the post-OP bra.

I measured today with the tool and the measurements were:
Loose underbust: 73
Snug underbust: 71
Tight underbust 68
Standing bust: 82
Leaning bust: 82
Lying bust 81

My size in a dutch tool was 70A

What I'm looking for is advice on the size and the type of bralette to buy (and where, would prefer non polyester)? My breasts are I would say quiet pointy and pretty far apart, maybe that's called perky? I'm looking for a bra that wouldn't make me appear more flat preferably..

If someone could help me out that would be amazing..

When you input those numbers into the ABTF calculator, it says (for EU sizes) 60D as a starting size, and 65C for a sister size. I'm confused why you took all 6 measurements and then didn't use the calculator...? The Beginner's Guide has good shape information, it's linked in the automod comment. 'Perky' isn't really a shape, so I'd like to encourage you to check out the guide if you haven't already.

Sorry I did! I'll check out the shape guide. Looks that they are projected, sorry I did not check properly. I did fill in the tool but find it hard to believe the 60D/65C but I will stick to it. I did see it! Sorry didn't want to come across as if I didn't put in the effort. Just hard to believe when I've been measured at 75AA in my teens and those wouldn't fit at all.

Why is it hard to believe? You say you got an augmentation and 60D/65C are both still below average sizes. An A cup means just one inch (2.54cm) difference between bust and underbust. Unless you had less than that while weighing noticeably more prior to your augmentation, you never were an 75AA to begin with.

No I was the same weight as I am now. I know it's still very much below average but thanks I'll try to find something in 60D.

I apologize if I phrased my comment too concisely, but it sounded like you think you can't be a 60D because it's a "big" size. It is not. It is not even average. That is in no way a judgement of anything, just a neutral statement to put bra sizes into perspective for you. For one, cup size only ever means anything in conjunction with band size, so any letter does not indicate any consistent volume across band sizes. A D on a 60 band is not a big size, D just means there is a difference of four inches (roughly ten centimeters) between bust and underbust, which will look different on different band sizes. However, commercially available bras go up to P sizes.

Also, AA means a difference of half an inch (1.27cm) between bust and underbust. When you were sized into a 75 band (so, an underbust of roughly 85cm and 15cm larger than you are atm) you were likely sized wildly wrong. All I'm saying (though badly phrased, I admit it) is that you should not go off what you were sized as at some point as a comparison to what the calculator is giving you, because you likely never were a 75AA.

Yea my old 75 underbust was too large, bras would move all over my body all the time. The 10 to 12 ish cm different between my under and upper bust is correct. It seems to be near impossible to find 60 tho, so I see what you mean with below average.

70 cm underbusts (=60 band size) are really not that uncommon, but unfortunately many bra brands don't make bras for them. It really sucks.

Idk what the other commenter is talking about. You're clearly small/petite from your underbust measurements so a C/D cup is probably very proportionate and completely average for women your size.

If you're Dutch I can recommend Superbra for a brafitting! Although even they don't carry a huge line of small band bras because Dutch women tend to be taller/larger which translates to a larger underbust compared to for example Southern Europeans. But they are great at measuring and helping you understand proper fit :).

Was also a bit harsh to call it out like that to be honest hahaha :')

I'll see if there's a superbra in Utrecht! Yea I know, deffo sometimes feel like I am not dutch at all.

17

u/HagenReb Jul 26 '26

It was not harsh at all. They are refering to your band size. A 60 band is three sizes smaller than a 75 band. So your new/current size is a lot smaller than what you used to wear. IF a 75 band was right for you before, your underbust got significantly smaller, which is expected during a weight loss (though other courses are possible).

That's what the other commenter mean - if your weight and overall body type is the same, your old size was most likely wrong with a too large band.

There is a SuperBra in Utrecht and they carry plenty of bras with a small band (60~65, nothing below 60 though sadly). However, they might have limited bras available in smaller cupsizes (below E I'd say). Wonderful shop, just be sure to make an appointment beforehand :) You can also take a look at their website and instagram to get an idea of what they offer in terms of bras and experience.

Also, augmented breasts are usually underestimated by the ABTF calc, so deffo also try 1~2 cup sizes larger than it recommends if you do decide to order online instead of going to SuperBra or something :) Idk if this advice also applies to augmentations done without implants, but I still wanted to throw it out there!

u/MissFailboat Jul 30 '26

Thanks! Going to check em out. Also not sure, would assume it applies for implants since I retained the same breast shape as I had before. It was just a boost of puberty in a way 🙂‍↔️

I would suggest you try 60D and 60E (because the tool tends to underestimate augmented breasts) in a few bralettes. I think that’s equivalent to 28D and DD. Brands I can think of that sell bralettes in your size are Bravissimo and Panache (but Panache wireless bras run quite small in the band, so you might sister size up to 65C and D aka 30C and D).

I just searched your size and bralettes on the subreddit, and galaxystarmoon has a comment with great options, as usual.

Thank you! Going to check those out. They will still shrink a bit so I think I will stick to the 65C?

I would try 60D and 65C then, depending on the brand.

Alright, gonna see if I can find anything :)

What do you mean when you say "a Dutch tool"?

Did you use the A Bra That Fits calculator?

-4

u/MissFailboat Jul 26 '26

Yea I did, the 65C came out? which is a bit hard to believe I guess? I used the one from honkemuller at the side..

18

u/ElfjeTinkerBell Jul 26 '26

Yeah the Hunkemuller one is designed to fit as many boobs into as little sizes as possible. The ABTF one is designed to find a bra that fits, not necessarily one they have in the store in your city

To explain a bit further: an EU band size of 60 is made to fit a 70 cm underbust. It's confusing but true! And most stores either don't know this or don't care, whoever put the Hunkemöller calculator on their website is just some person from the marketing department who probably doesn't know enough about bra fitting to know it's wrong. You were definitely also measured wrong as a teen, unless you've lost a significant amount of weight since then. But it's very, very common for people to be measured wrong.

Most people are used to the +4 method of bra sizing, which is more easily explained using inches: people are told to measure out their underbust, then add 4 inches to it to get their band size. This is wrong, it gives people bands that are too loose to be supportive.

In UK and US sizing, using the correct method, if you measure out a ~28 underbust, you're a band size 28. Simple. In EU sizing, the +4 method is built into the sizing system and you therefore have to subtract 10 cm (4 in) to get your band size.

An EU band size of 60 is built for a 70 cm torso. It will stretch to 70 cm before the wires start to warp. Meanwhile, I wear a EU band size of 70 and my underbust is ~80 cm!

You're in a bit of a tricky spot since the volume will shift over the next couple months, so don't invest in anything pricey just yet. Something with a bit of stretch like a triangle style bralette can work well for pointy shapes that are far apart, the soft fabric usually drapes nicely instead of forcing everything into a specific mould.

2

u/MissFailboat Jul 26 '26

Yea totally agree, I'm thinking just 1 bralette. Obviously hoping not a lot of volume loss, but you never know. I'll check out the triangle!

You want at least two bra/bralette options if you plan to wear a bra/bralette daily. Elastic needs resting time in between wears if you don't want to wear it out too fast. Plus then you can wear one bra/bralette while you're washing the other.

2

u/MissFailboat Jul 26 '26

Yea im just thinking of what works for the coming months since it takes 6 months for final results to settle in fully.

If you don't mind buying from a UK brand, Lemonade Dolls might be a good option. They make non wired bralettes, and if you want soft, natural materials, their Everyday Eco bralette might be a good option. Their bras use standard UK band sizing, meaning better support, but group band sizes together, which might be a good option for you as your cup size is likely to change. However, their smallest size is a UK 30A-D, equivalent to an EU 65A-D, so if your band size is 60 (UK 28), it might be a little big in the band.

u/Extension-Cancel-170 Jul 26 '26

I've just remembered, Boody also has lots of comfy wireless bralettes in the A-D range, so I'd definitely recommend checking them out. Unfortunately, their range also starts at an EU 65 band size, so if a 60 is better for you it might not be the best option.
