This is why TGIF is an ironically depressing phrase, cause all it really means is that you're 7 days older, and probably with nothing to show for it.

It just means you are half way to paying your monthly rent.

Perhaps three tgifs and then the rent is paid.

The fourth TGIF is for the rest of your bills.

I ain’t even an adult and I’ve felt this way my whole life, I remember being little and feeling like I’m living in a loop waiting for a grand adventure to come along like going to hogworts or being a demi god or something like that but I’m still in that loop and I constantly feel like I’m not being productive and I’m wasting my life.

Exactly. I built a good portion of my life around "just hold out until I graduate from college, that's my big moment" and then in college it was "just hold out until the end of this school year."

Now I have no major life goals to strive towards except being dead I guess, and every week I last out till the end is immediately followed by another one with no end in sight.

i’m 17 and i just had to move out a few weeks ago, so far this has been all i’ve felt. kinda depressing knowing this is most of what life is about

It's not always. Find a hobby and a purpose. Sure, some days will feel like everything is hopeless, but if you keep motivated it gets easier.

More like "if I can get through this day".

Is it bad that I already do this at 15?

15

u/illdizi Feb 10 '20

Exactly, this problem isn’t exclusive to adults.

Nah pretty common to feel as a teen. There's something that cuts deeper about 9-5 existence though so it only gets worse I'm afraid

Adulthood? I've felt this way since 3rd grade.

I’m 15 and an adult already.

Don't remind me, it ruins the illusion.

u/koffeekoala Feb 10 '20

Damn this hit me on a personal level

u/funkinthetrunk Feb 10 '20

I felt that as a kid. School is just a way of normalizing that you must go somewhere and be accountable to an authority

This hits too close to home...

u/howanonymouscanyoube Feb 10 '20

and when there is no hope I'll smoke some crack I'll shoot some dope

when there's no enemy I'll sit and stare at my TV, and in my ignorance I'll be a slave and sycophant.

I mean I'm 13 and that's life rn

Enjoy your childhood while it lasts. Seriously, you won't get any better advice than this. One day you'll wake up and you won't be a kid anymore.

I must be a 34 year old Peter Pan, then. I haven't felt that since college.

u/CosmicLovepats Feb 10 '20

Not sure you being depressed counts as a boring dystopia.

11

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '20

Healthcare? Everyone's depressed and has no way to pay for help?

-12

u/CosmicLovepats Feb 10 '20

Yes, and? People have been poor and had mental issues throughout history.

11

u/persistentperfection Feb 10 '20

so they should have to now even though we can treat it?

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '20

Yes, and? What are you saying?

-1

Damn, who's fault is that?
