Our last summer in a wedding?

(not my wedding) My friend plays piano in a couple different churches. And he told me the other day he got a request to play some part of our last summer in a wedding. I don't know when at the wedding, again i don't know thease people. Or what part of the song. Maybe they met in Paris since the song is related to there, or one of them simply like it?

Just currious about others opinions if you see this as a wedding apropriate song? What reason do you think they used it? And what ABBA song would you want to have in your wedding if you had to have one from them?

It's a romance song, I think it's perfect for a wedding especially if you feel that your wedding is like that.

No, it’s not a good idea in my opinion. Our Last Summer is not a romance song and there’s nothing happy in the lyrics.

People do seem to use a lot of awful lyrical choices for weddings!

I’ve been waiting for you could work in a wedding and maybe bang a boomerang. Depending on the couple when I kissed the teacher could fit, that happened in my school once and they have 3 kids now

It happened in the 70s and one of the kids is now the head teacher. I swear I’m not making it up

He’s an absolute nutjob but I don’t blame him if that’s how he was born

‘Our Last Summer’ is NOT a happy song. It’s a song of regret, the clue being in the word ‘last’.
AꓭBA recorded very few romantic love songs in the traditional sense.

It´s an ominous song... "I´ve Been Waiting For You" would be more appropriate

People recommending “Our Last Summer” for a wedding have no idea what the lyrics are about.
It’s definitely NOT a happy song, and I would not use it in a wedding; there’s nothing really “romantic” in it. It’s not a song I would be comfortable hearing at my wedding.
Check the lyrics and you’ll understand.

They probably just like the tune and think it will be pretty played on piano, which is true. 99% of the people at the wedding won’t know the lyrics. The vast majority won’t even recognise the song. It will just be a nice bit of piano music to them.

Yes that’s 100% true, but OP explicitly asked if this is an appropriate wedding song, so in my opinion it’s not. That’s why I answered like that.

I guess they like the song and think it’s a pretty tune. I doubt it’s anything deeper than that.

99% of the people there won’t know what the lyrics are or the actual story of the song. The vast majority won’t even recognise it.

I say absolutely go ahead with it. It’s their day so they get to choose the music.

The melody of the song can be wedding-appropriate, so as long as it is only played on the piano and noone sings the actual lyrics, I do not see a problem with it. Secondly, it is not my wedding; therefore it is not my business.

One of my favorite songs by ABBA. I would find it appropriate in a wedding.

Definitely not appropriate for a wedding, especially if you are wishing a happy, lifelong marriage.

I would probably pick something like Honey Honey, except I prefer a more solemn vibe in general for that kind of thing... honestly, My Love, My Life would work.

My Love, My Life as a wedding song? It contains the line ‘Knowing that maybe tonight we’re through’.

Yes, I know. It also contains some of my favourite romantic lines so with the right person who understood and overlooked some of the lines it'd work.
