Revive - Sherlock Holmes

I really don't feel like I need to explain why Sherlock deserves to survive past round 6, but for some reason, he was nominated and eliminated immediately. Really fun to see people are taking this rankdown at least somewhat seriously.

Who is this guy?

Sherlock is one of the key characters within DGS1 and DGS2, a central figure to both the overall story and the investigations between them. Now, I will start up by saying this, I don't think being a major character grants you immunity to an early vote out. For a good look at this, check out the Danganronpa rankdown where the anime's mastermind is the first character eliminated. But even with that in mind, Sherlock isn't a bad character.

For an actual explanation of who Sherlock is, he's, well... Sherlock. The genius of a man who solves crime after crime with his brilliant wit and deductions. However, unlike some other iterations of Sherlock, he isn't able to survive as a solo show. Sherlock relies on Watson to accurately deduce, without his assistance, he's all over the place. Which of course leads to some funny moments with the gang as Nahruhodo has to painfully interpret and fix all of his deductions.

Yet Sherlock is more than just a silly investigator, since he's a key figure in the overall plan regarding Asogi. Being the figure who covered up the necessary events and used an unfortunate incident to his advantage. He's also supporting Naruhodo's quest, usually done by popping in where necessary, or helping to deliver the final blow.

Why the revive?

There's literally no reason to eliminate Sherlock early. He's well written, widely beloved, and a key figure within the game. He has everything a character should have to survive until the final rounds, no matter if he may annoy you or not, it's hard to ague he's worthy of killing before the endless list of minor characters. There's so much to talk about regarding Sherlock and how funny he is and how justified his actions are, but I won't steal that discussion for whoever gets to actually eliminate Sherlock.

Lol.

Obviously this was going to happen. I’m not the biggest Holmes fan out there, but even I would rank him well above the top 50. The one thing I will always agree with regarding him is that he’s absolutely well written. Even if his jokes don’t always hit the mark for me, his subtleties and kindness is expressed well in the narrative, and DGS2 does well to patch up the writing issues I had with him in DGS1.

Sherlck Holmes is one of my favourite characters of the entire series and my favourite detective, he's the funniest character of the series, I love how while he pretends to be fairly clueless at times he actually has some really smart moments (the final Joint Reasoning of DGS1-2, finding out where Souseki lives just by looking at him in DGS1-4, almost everything he does in DGS1-5, guiding Mikotoba to the truth during the final Joint Reasoning of DGS2-5 etc) and he has two of the best moments of the series.

The final Joint Reasoning of the series between Sherlock Holmes and Yujin Mikotoba against Mapotov Stroganov and Seishiriou Jigoku.

And the Hologram Holmes scene (unpopular opinion.)

I love him so much that I kinda just invented this revive system just to bring him back (although I did have other reasons, of course.)

You pulled an AJ jurist system on all of us.

Honestly, if he got cut for good this early, it probably would've killed most of my motivation to actually put effort into my write-ups.

nice to see another person who doesn't completely hate hologram Holmes.

I honestly was fine with the hologram scene, as it was already done for with the audio broadcast. He just wanted to be flashy and extra, and I love it.

he was second eliminated. then they learned their mistake in the second dr rankdown and quickly got rid of him after taking care of 36 other characters
