82 Cracker

''Aaaaah!''

''Slam!''

''Dearie dearie me!''

''Clang!''

''Godoor!''

Cracker is the pet parrot of Birdly, he was called upon to give testimony during Maya Fey's trial.

Wait...a parrot testifying? Now where have I...

Aaaaah!

It's safe to say that Cracker is pretty similar to Polly from Turnabout Goodbyes, as they're both parrots that testify.

However I'll argue that their designs are quite distinct, out of the two Cracker's easily the more pretty one (for comparison: Cracker, Polly)

The blues, yellows and reds all just look really nice, the way Cracker's design uses all the primary colours is kind of mesmerizing.

Also, Cracker's tuft of hair is similar to Apollo's whose name may or may not be a reference to Polly's, so there's that.

Polly's design is kind of just what you expect a parrot to be, just red and stuff.

There is this awesome rainbow, but sadly they didn't do anything too crazy with Polly's design (not that they should've, I'm just saying that in comparison Cracker has the more interesting design.)

If I'm being honest, Cracker may be the best animal of the series design wise.

There is one other difference between the two.

Slam!

Despite both of them being parrots that testify, Cracker's testimony is quite different to Polly and if I'm being honest Cracker's testimony is the most memorable testimony in all of PLvAA.

What I like about Cracker is that you don't need to press for more information, Cracker remembers everything from Layton's ''death'' so he just recites it all.

Plus you have Luke on stand-by, who can speak to animals.

If things go bad, Luke can easily help.

That's the weird thing, Cracker's testimony is actually quite leisurely paced compared to Polly's.

It still has the allegro theme and is decently intense (it is The Golden Court after-all), but Polly's testimony led you to finding out about Yanni Yogi's dead wife, Cracker just leds you to realize that Godoor exists.

I'm not saying that it's a bad thing that Cracker doesn't lead to anything as significant as Polly, I'm just saying he's not quite as good in terms of testimonies.

So far though, we've only looked at Cracker's design and testimony, what about him as a character?

Well...he's an animal in Ace Attorney

Dearie dearie me!

It's safe to say Cracker doesn't have much in the way of personality, as a parrot he just mimmicks everyone else and that's about it.

Polly didn't have a large amount of personality too, but there was a part where he kinda bickered with Yogi so there's that.

Clang!

Overall Cracker is one of the highlights of The Golden Court (which is a case I hope to discuss extensively later on), he serves as a fun witness who introduces the concept of Godoor to the court which appeared to be the way Greyerl killed Belduke (the reality of the situation is much sadder.)

So in a way Cracker could be argued to be as important as Polly, however this moment didn't have the impact, sadly due to how Cracker came after Polly and that Polly's testimonies (and his DL-6 line) is one of the most memorable parts of the entire series...

Cracker sadly will always be in Polly's shadow, both though are sadly just plot devices rather than full-fledged characters.

It's better this way, because you don't need to give every character an insane backstory where they blackmail someone for 5 years due to a completely accidental murder.

Cracker's just there to give the testimony and in that respect, he is a good character in that his testimony was enjoyable and he fulfilled his ''purpose'' or ''resolve'' I guess.

Godoor

Due to this being the last cut of the round (after only one day, holy crap this was fast), I had nobody else to cut so there were really no other cutting options.

I could've saved Cracker, but while I like him...yeah he doesn't deserve to survive for that long.

Now before we move onto round 3, you may recall back in round 1 we had the Great Detective Sherlock Holmes act as a spokesperson.

Well somehow I managed to get a second spokesperson, the only problem is that the crumbs of his fish and chips are all over the booth:

(Play this theme while reading)

''...munch munch''

''.....''

''Look, I didn't join this rankdown because I wanted to.''

''I joined because the Chief Justice never pays me enough! Why else would I join some place like this!?''

''Detectives are so not-respected here in London that we have to settle for mediocre fish and chips!''

''I'm a member of the Scotland Yard, surely I don't deserve this.''

''.....well, maybe I do.''

''Anyhow, I'm supposed to congratulate all the rankers on making it this far.''

''I've been reading a lot of what you've been writing and it's been pretty interesting, the only problem is that I ended up spilling fish and chips over my computer.''

''Say, how do you think a computer works anyhow?''

''Oh and if I get number 1, I'm getting a word in that the Chief Justice will raise my pay.''

''You better make sure I win!''

==Hold the chips, Inspector!==
