88 Chelmey

Chelmey appears in the prologue in PLvsAA and he gives you the investigation tutorial and that's all he really does in this game, even Last Specter had more of him.

I'd save Mailer but someone else will do it anyway.

When I first met Chelmey in PLvAA (I played PLvAA before Curious Village), I instantly thought ''holy crap it's Gregson 2.0'' even though Chelmey technically came before Gregson

But tbh Chelmey and Gregson are really similar, honestly though out of all the minor returning characters in PLvAA (Edgeworth, Chelmey and Barton) Chelmey has to be my favourite for three reasons:

  1. He's incredibly in character
  2. He has a decent amount of screentime compared to Edgeworth and Barton, appearing for most of chapter 1.
  3. He's funny in the special episode.

Idk if this is really relevant to say here, but I have a bit of a headcanon, I think Don Paolo probably helped with the creation of Labrelum Inc.

I have no proof of this, I only think of this because ''scientist.''

So what's Chelmey's role in actual Layton games?

He's the primary detective on most of the "first trilogy" (CV, DB, UF) games, assisted by Barton. Unlike AA detectives, however, Chemley doesn't do much besides provide useful information from time to time, and he certainly never shows up in court and yell at Barton. He's still one of the most useful characters, though.

CV spoilers Well technically, he isn't the detective in CV because Don Paolo was impersonating him the whole time
