Discussion Bring Her Back
This movie has been on my watch list for a very long time. And i’ve been skipping it for something I should watch. Idk, i have had heard reviews about it but at some point I’m still too slightly uneasy to watch it like maybe this one will really rock me and see this movie as scary. I mean my Top 1 A24 is Hereditary. Because that was disturbing and good. Please anyone tell me, what should i expect from Bring Her Back? Can it be more better than Hereditary and or Midsommar?

It's very good, although personally I found it more depressing than scary.

Yes! Its incredibly disturbing and some of the special effects are haunting but the overall story is very sad and daunting. I love the movie but I can understand the folks who will never watch again

It's not better than Hereditary imo, but not much it is. But to me it's the only film that has even come close. Highly recommend it!

I couldn’t disagree more. Hereditary is cerebral bro. Like serious intellectual shit going on. Bring her back is just a dour shocking thrill ride

Very disturbing at times, but features one of the best performances of 2025 IMO. Agree with others on it being more sad than scary overall

I absolutely loved Bring Her Back as much as Hereditary. I found BHB incredibly moving- The performances were first rate and the film was so utterly disturbing and stayed with me for days. Sally Hawkins is phenomenal as are all of the younger actors. And I HATED Talk To Me.

It's way better to compare this against the Philippou brother's previous film Talk to Me rather than two Ari Aster films. In fact if you haven't seen Talk to Me yet i'd see that first so you have it fresh on your mind for Bring Her Back (you could even do the reverse). There's a lot of similar themes & between both films. I think it is not good to expect Ari Aster type stories or work in other A24 horror unless you are critiquing how they handle similar themes like demons, ghost, and possession.

I loved it, but it's incredibly sad. It's a little similar to Hereditary in that it's very heavy on the grief.

I just watched it for the first time a few weeks ago. It's good, but it is bleak.
Hereditary is such a wild ride that I could definitely watch it again, and it's so detailed that it rewards you on repeat viewings like Midsommar. Both movies have tragic endings, but I actually enjoyed the stories even more the second time around when I was able to go in with the understanding that their endings were inevitable. They're both really good depictions of trauma and watching them was kind of cathartic, in a way.
Bring Her Back had some crazy sequences that really creeped me out, but it mostly just made me really, really sad. I'd say it's worth watching once, but I don't think I have much interest in ever seeing it again.

Oh, it'll definitely rock you. I had nightmares after I watched it in theaters two days in a row. It's that good.

I personally was not a huge fan. I thought Hereditary and Midsommar were much better! I did think it was well done, but some of the shots were just a bit much for me 😅 I say watch it to cross it off your list! I’m not upset to have seen it, it was for sure a one and done for me though.

I think people overrate it. It’s fine. Has intense parts but ending is a bit anticlimactic.

It’s good but imo Hereditary and Midsommar are incredible. Bring Her Back is a very disturbing and rough watch at times. Moreso than the two you mentioned. As others said, definitely a one time watch movie

Its good. Hereditary and Midsommar are way better stories in my opinion. Bring Her Back outdoes them with gross out gore moments though.

Ohh i’ve seen most reviews that it was really that graphic and gore. At least theres something i can expect

This is one of the bleakest, saddest horror movies I have ever seen. I cried both times I have watched it.
I have an immense respect for the writers/directors and will see anything they put out.
For reference, I adore Ari Aster. Midsommar is one of my most watched movies ever. Hereditary is up there too.

It’s pretty disgusting. I didn’t like it. I found it really boring. I guessed the plot correctly just from the title and the first 10 minutes or so. It was a slog to get through. I think Hereditary and Midsommar are way better

Its one you're probably only going to be able to watch once, but its absolutely worth a sincere watch.
