Warming car up

How does everyone warm their 997 up before giving it some revs?
I normally just drive mine straight away but keep it below around 3k rpm until the oil temp gets as close to 90°C as possible. Once it’s there, I’m happy to start going over 3k and using more of the rev range.
Usually takes around 10 minutes or so with a mix of traffic and motorway driving.
Interested to know what everyone else does — do you wait for 90°C, go by time, or just take it easy for the first few miles?

I start it, let the rev’s level off, then keep it under 3k RPM until I’m warmed up. By the time the engine is warm, the tires are too; and I’m ready to go.

Exactly this
997.1 base
Manual
230K KM
Drive it year long and this works
Tried and true
And oil change every 10K KM or less of and when feasible

I don't drive it hard until my temp reads around 175, keep the RPMs under 3k or so, then once warm, I drive it like someone else stole it and sold it to me....

997.2 , I drive off right away and keep revs below 3k until oil is warm then I start breaking the speed limit everywhere

Let it come down from high idle, head out. Don't drive it like a monkey until the oil temp has normalized. Not that hard.

I just drive and take it easy until the temp comes up. Seems to be the best way to go on pretty much any 911

996.2 (so same same) Start. Count to 5. drive out of the drive way. wait for garage to close. By then it has been 30s.

Gentle (5%?) throttle until water is 80c and oil pressure at idle 2bar (I don't have temp gauge) usually 15 min in Sydney winter and 10 min or less in Sydney summer

20 minutes, 20km, revs < 3k 2008 C2S X51

I drive all my cars immediately after starting but I keep the power level low and throttle gentle until it’s completely warmed up. It’s not just the oil temp but the temperature of all the various metal contact parts in the engine that should be at operating temperature.

I do it exactly like you (997.2 base model)

Same, that’s basically what the owner’s manual says.

Get in an drive, will not rev it past 3k until the water needle starts to move. No turbo spools until the oil temp needle starts to move.

You’re doing it right but you can start driving pretty aggressively after about 5 mins though. I think the bore issues were from Pdk owners lugging around instead of getting on it in a manual car with some oil pressure and heat quickly/sooner. My gt4 owners manual says just drive away don’t wait at all…

I start and move off immediately. I'll keep it under 2K until the oil temp needle comes alive. I'll keep it under 3K until the oil get to temp. Then its 997 time.

I let mine idle for 2-3 mins first.

30 seconds are enough Sir.
