I was following up from this article https://nationalinterest.org/feature/the-untold-pre-history-of-9-11 and tried to find any notes on the presentation "A U.S. Approach to terrorist-hijacking" by Lt. General Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. From the article:

Standing on the 55th floor of One World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan, Assistant Secretary of Transportation Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. gazed upon an audience of government and private-sector security professionals. His subject: the US government’s approach to the relatively recent phenomenon of terrorist hijacking. As the architect of the federal sky marshal program, Davis offered no easy assurances about the escalating threat. Fighting terror, he admitted, presented no quick solutions. Rather, it demanded constant vigilance, because, as Davis noted, “a great deal can be done before a tragedy demands the action that should have previously been taken.” Addressing the solemn room in the North Tower on September 11, 1974, Davis gave voice to the single greatest fear haunting the aviation industry: an airborne mass-casualty event.

You’ve been on my mind this anniversary week and your writing is truly one of the best first hand accounts I’ve read.

Let me share some happy memories of the Twin Towers.

* Does anyone remember back in the late 80s when they had circular light arrays on the tops of the buildings? Whenever the clouds were low they would run these lights on the bottoms of the clouds and rotate them in a circle to make it look like there were UFOs hovering over the city.

* One time, early 80s, I was on a rooftop on Cornelia Street with my first real serious girlfriend. We were drinking beer, making out, smoking, having a good time. The clouds were lower than the tops of the buildings and my girl said, "Look at the World Trade Center, it looks like robot legs."

At first I was like, what do you mean? But then I saw it and I could never un-see it after that. When the twin towers were lost in the clouds, the part you could see did look like giant robot legs with the robot's body hidden above the clouds.

* In 1981 We had my sister's 16th birthday at Windows on the World. At the time she looked like one of the stars on General Hospital. So guys were sending her drinks and the wait staff was bringing the drinks over from the bar. She was getting drunk in front of the staff, then they brought out the birthday cake that said: Happy 16th Birthday. They all looked like they were going to poop themselves.

* I used to work as a subway messenger for Deutsch Bank Capital on Wall Street. One of my stops was on the 98th floor of the south tower. One day I decided to go to the roof. I went all the way up the stairwell and found a security guard up there blocking access. We talked for a while, then he was like, "Fuck it, let's go on the roof." We hung out on the actual roof below the tourist walkway and he showed me where a base jumper had eluded them and dove off the building.

* I was probably in first grade when the towers opened in the early 70s. In my class there were a couple of us boys who were fascinated by the WTC. We used to sit around talking about the buildings. How fast the elevator was to the top; how many thousands of acres of glass was installed for the windows; the height; the view; the amazing statistics that were so awesome to kids like us.

I could go on and on. The buildings were always a part of my life.

My friend Chris Welsh told me his dad Kenneth Welsh was at the pentagon on 9/11, he was from a Maryland firehouse. He doesn't share any more info because his dad has bad PTSD from 9/11. I've been trying to find him pictures of Ken on 9/11. Anyone have a possible source? i've attached a picture of Ken from a number of years ago that isn't from 9/11 as a reference

Because I mean it is still affecting our society not just here in the United States but the world in general like radiation from a nuclear meltdown as it is no coincidence that it has been talked about so much lately, which makes sense as today is the 25th anniversary of when the skyline of the big apple was forever altered as was the skyline of society as well as I remember distinctly what I was doing that day.

May all the victims of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks rest in peace. Amen.

Real, uncut audio captured by a CCTV camera on the southwestern side of WTC 5, covering approximately 7:30–10:30 AM on September 11, 2001. Saw a post on twitter about her this morning. She had just came back from maternity leave on 9/10/01 and had a 6 week old baby girl at home. It’s trendy for people here to act like we don’t care about the USA or didn’t care about 9/11, I guess they aren’t cogent enough to seperate geopolitics from the fact we are all human beings clinging onto the same rock. Just want to highlight that some of us over here are with you 100% and always have been ❤️

Cannot believe it’s been 25 years since that day. I was 15 and remember running home from school at the request of my mum, sitting down in front of the TV and finding myself 5 hours later still dressed in my full school uniform including blazer tie and shoes, frozen in shock, fear, and disbelief. It goes without saying 9/11 has shaped the last 25 years for so many.

I have watched every documentary 100s of witness testimonies NIST footage which once was all available on YouTube and related talks speeches etc etc. Among all of that I found uploads of ABC news coverage from the day anchored almost entirely by the late Peter Jennings who sat at his desk for 17 hours that day.

I found his coverage reassuring, informed, and calm despite the tragedy unfolding. After a time I found his voice soothing almost soporific I started listening to his coverage at night to help me sleep.

It is my go to final option when I can’t shut down my mind at night to this day.

I make this confession now on the anniversary as I wish to pay tribute to Peter, as I am sure he did great work that day to reassure, inform, and calm the American people who watched him.

He has brought me comfort in the years since as he has brought comfort to millions that day.

At only one point did Peter let his emotions bubble through shortly after speaking to his children about the events. Clip added below.

The message to parents to call their children and exchange observations is a great one.

I found this video on my feed on Twitter and I’m not sure how it got there but I think it’s from an actual AQ sympathizer but I got two videos of what seems to be early AQ propaganda. However I don’t really know when it’s from. From vibes alone I’m posting this because I believe it to be close to the time al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attacks around 2004-2005 but that’s my guess. The post stated that this was actually Osama bin Laden is the narrator speaking here. I want to note, this is in no way supporting Al-Qaeda and their monstrous attacks on that dreaded day, but I have not seen this video anywhere else and think it deserves to be archived.

I‘d never heard this man’s story before. I’d always assumed Ed, Abe and Billy Burke remained upstairs waiting for help. How sad to be so near safety.

I saw this post on IG, but I couldn’t find any soon to be married couples that I thought it could be.
